Not sure what he's talking about, "2 plans" 1 or 2 games.....they have 4 plans, 1,2,3,or 4 games at a time, ive had them for a long time and almost always get the new releases.....when X1 came out I got Forza, Ryse, Battlefield and Dead Rising with no problems.....2 days usually......LOVE THEM!!!

Gamefly made me a hardcore gamer.

You're one of the lucky ones. I don't get new releases from them. They stopped sending me the games I wanted once I was a subscriber for a month.

I have had gamefly for five years and I only rent new releases. Never had any problems. The key is put them in you're list really early, I normally add a game to my list the day it's announced.

Yeah, GF is a great system. I've been with them for around 4 yrs. and I can't see why you wouldn't use this service, especially with all the crap being pushed out with a $60 price tag. I can just rent them, and send them back, and if I like a game I rent, I can keep it for $45, so I never pay retail for anything, even on new releases, which tends to be the only games I rent.

I'd say around 90% of the games I play on console, are rented.

i recently got 2 months for $9.99 for restarting members promo. I played

GTA5----on release
batman origins--on release
ratchet and clank into the nexus--on release
saints row 4
wwe 2k14--on release
fuse(which i later bought)
family guy
beyond 2 souls on release
diablo 3

so i paid $9.99 and than 15.99 for one more month before cancelling.

you have to put your games in Q way before, so don't add them a week before release. Add them when they are announced because the longer you have em in stock the better chance you will get them

on 2 game plan always ship out one game about 5 days before a new one is suppose to release so you will get it

shipping is where GF sucks because its slow, mostly 4-6 days

its a good service if you know how to make it work because you can save a lot of money without having to buy anything.

also author is wrong most of the times the keep price is atleast $10-15 lower even on newly released games. Not every game can be priced right when we talking about 8000 plus

lashes2ashes3794d ago

Yep. If you have a membership for a long time you can get really good prices. Because you get the used price and then 10% off and then you use you're five dollar off coupon they send every three months lol. I can't remember the last time I paid over 40 for keeping a brand new release from game fly. Sucks waiting until the day after the street date for me but that's life lol.

Shipping isn't entirely their fault, USPS is screwing them over. USPS has a "special deal" with Netflix, which basically gives Netflix their own service and creates fast shipping speeds. Gamefly asked for the same treatment and got denied.

Also may I ask where to get the 9.99 deal? I'd like to get that.

SwordandShield3794d ago

They will send an email asking you if you want to restart your membership. I also recently restarted my membership but it cost $11.99 for two months instead of $9.99.

kurruptor3794d ago

The only extra treatment Netflix got was hand sorting, which resulted in less damaged discs. It didn't affect shipping speed.

Netflix is faster because they have more locations and they send out new discs right away.

Gamefly might receive your game and not send a new one (even if it is available) for a couple days sometimes.

showtimefolks3793d ago

one thing that is not used or known much is if you go to usps and ask them to scan you game than you will get your next game on Q before GF gets your back

but not every USPS scans

While Gamefly can't be perfect...it is one of the best decisions I have made ever, as far as gaming is concerned, that is. I always make sure I have a spot in my queue ready for any new titles and I have not missed out a single time in two years. The only time I missed out is when I misjudged the timing and got a game in the mail too late to get a new title. I have received only two bad discs in my time as a member and I recently upgraded to the 4-game plan while also buying two PS4 titles. Needless to say, I am one happy gamer at the moment!

Microsoft can see which way the wind is blowing, and they want to be the number one service.

It's inevitable. Gunna evolve and improve over time just like consoles, vr, etc...

How is it unrealistic when there's several that already exist
