GT6 vs. Assetto Corsa – Silverstone Comparison

AdrianF1ESP has put together a neat comparison of Gran Turismo 6 & Assetto Corsa.

Both titles were released yesterday with the newest Assetto Corsa update introducing the Silverstone Grand Prix layout. The video shows a lap at Silverstone in both titles using the KTM X-Bow.

Can AC keep up with the console heavyweight? Does GT6 compare well to AC’s physics? Check it out for yourself below!

Assetto Corsa makes GT6 look like a Simcade.

decrypt3781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

AC is still in beta the game is getting regular updates. Few days back they added more cars, overall its going to be a solid sim, with full customization and mod support, already tons of custom skins out for cars.

You can see the list of recent added cars at :

"- New car BMW M3 E30 Group A
- New car BMW Z4 GT3
- New car Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione
- New car Ferrari F40"

apart from sound, something GT6 will have with a future update, what exactly is impressive here? Corsa running on PC, a game released in 2014 for modern day PC, or game running on a ps3, that will have a thousand more cars than Corsa, and double the amount of tracks?

What is impressive here?

PC elitists gripping on sound? thats impressive?

GT6 runs on a ps3 at 1080p and 60fps, with over 1200 cars, almost 40 tracks, rally, nascar, f1, and trillion other things.

That is impressive.

reynod3781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

@Grizzli

Its not just the sound, AC outclasses GT6 in just about every category be it Physics, Graphics. Next to AC, GT6 is arcadish made for the masses.

The only area GT6 would win would be content. Give it time, AC is still in beta. AC has full mod support with thousands of modders behind it, content will be the last thing that will be in shortage.

Its amazing what a modding community can do for a game, just check out what happened with Skyrim.

GrizzliS19873781d ago

let me get this straight, a small almost indie developer has the resources and education to compete with a billion dollar company that develops GT6 physics?...

badz1493781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

@reynod

GT6 is arcadish compared to AC? What are you smoking? GT6 is not arcadish compared to anything! An arcade racing game can't make you into a real racer - something no other racing game has managed! I would love to see AC try to top THAT!

And you really think modders are going to make AC any better? The most they can do is add custom cars, paint jobs or aesthetic touch here and there but the driving and physic itself, not so much! Modders are most of the time just bunch of programmers, not real racers!

Rzep3781d ago

GT6 is arcadish. Hell just about every game from SimBin is a better sim than GT.

A modern day PC game vs 8 year old hardware.

Not surprised.

But you look at the content of both games, AC has like 17 cars and 9 tracks.

T9003781d ago

Easily runs on modest PC hardware.

Quality over quantity. Just hear the sounds on those cars they sound dam real. Most of the cars on GT6 sound the same.

check some of these pics out:

AC looks amazing. Project Cars looks like the only challenger on the horizon.

Lon3wolf3781d ago

The video was 100% about the sound, hence why the sound was moved from PC to PS3 all the way through. Guys (Grizzlis1987 too)you need to chill if it was about the graphics then they needed no sound at all.

doublebass23781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

newsflash:its because it is a sim-cade,just as forza!

edgeofsins3781d ago

1. Assetto Corsa in this video has almost the exact same results for this car which they have more focus on because of their lower car count. GT has equal physics on a lesser powerful platform with far more cars they have to focus on.

2. Judging by the video and your comment you are saying Assetto Corsa looks like a simcade.

3. So you're comparing a modding community to over 1000 cars all painstakingly adjusted to be like the real thing by a real company that has assets for real world testing?

4. People still use the sound excuse. The game already fills up a whole bluray disc and still has a huge installation. Sounds take up an enormous amount of space, especially 1200 specific cars to record. The driving is the most important. This isn't a sound simulator. This is a racing simulator. They will address this eventually. But perhaps for the next game while they are busy porting assets over they will have the free time to have a separate department take car of adding the sounds.

Honestly these are two very very different games. AC is a REAL sim. GT6 is has arcade physics. Who ever thinks GT is a Sim obviously doesn't drive hard. GT puts alot of emphasis on Weight transfer. Its a great game too, just not as sim as people like to think - which is fine anyway.

Visually they look about as good as each other here and obviously AC is crisper and has a ton more Anisotropic filtering which you'll clearly see if you watch the vid at 1080p.
The thing is, I have and own Assetto Corsa on PC and can tell you looks are not its forte - don't get me wrong, its far from ugly but you don't buy this game for the looks.

Assetto Corsa is superb. and this is the kind of graphics I want to see on GT7 Ps4.

T9003781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

As of right now, aside hardcore PC racing sims like Iracing or Rfactor 2 nothing out there can stand up to Assetto Corsa.

I really cant wait for Project Cars to be out. Would be amazing to see AC and Project Cars go head to head.

Whats really amazing is that AC is made by a very small development team. Its amazing what they have done considering their man power and budget, i think the game is severely under appreciated.

mithril3781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

Go to youtube this chanels already have AC vs Project cars

Tibbers3781d ago

Project Cars isn't even close the rFactor 2, iRacing and AC physics wise.

Sarcasm3781d ago

GT7 would most likely look like this

All they need to do is make the photo mode work on the PS4 and run in real time.

I mean if they could make that engine run on 7 year old PS3 hardware at almost 1080p, there's no reason they couldn't do it on the PS4 at 1080p with superb anti-aliasing, lighting and post processing.

Hopefully.

WheatBread3781d ago

Assetto Corsa looks great, but the sky needs an upgrade, it looks like a dome with painted clouds on the ceiling.

LiQuiZoN3781d ago

Gt6 looks and drives incredibly well. It's a great driving simulated experience. Excited for gt7!

pennywhyz3781d ago (Edited 3781d ago )

When AC is done ya gonna need power from a PS7 to keep up with visuals and more importantly physics and AI. This game is not ment for lil 4 or 5 hundred consoles.

Cool.
Add PSVR2 support to ACC and I might play it.

ApocalypseShadow407d ago

Same. Good sales. But if they are smart, they'll release a VR update on console for PS VR 2. Get more sales. More money.

TheColbertinator407d ago

Impressive series and well known for being challenging

ChiefofLoliPolice407d ago

Jesus really? Damn I didn't know Assetto Corsa was that popular. Now that I look at the sales numbers and the sheer about of mods for the PC version I guess I can see it now.

Obscure_Observer407d ago

Really impressive numbers.

There´re more racing simulators fans out there than most racing games studios acknowledges.

Father__Merrin407d ago (Edited 407d ago )

Wish AC1 was at least one X enhanced but it's only sold a lot because of its price
