Gamer completes GTA IV 360 in 17 mins 15 secs?

According to the Rockstar Social Club's '100% Club' - which lists everyone who's completed the game, obviously - a certain ninjaraiden2003 has completed GTA IV on the Xbox 360 in 17 minutes and 15 seconds.

Now with all those stories circulating the web about cheating, the question has to be asked: Is this some kind of workaround or simply an anomaly on Rockstar's part?

it must be a glitch, there are more than 17 missions, so he would have had to complete each one in under 1min, unlikely. Either he cheated or its a mistake by Rockstar

it does say he beat it for the 360. i knew 2 people who had the game on the 25th because they have hacked systems.
that doesn't happen on the ps3.

Ok, so I caught this article by googling my gamertag name from my 360voice.com profile (lame I know) but I figured with the amount of abusive messages I've been getting with accusations of "cheating" that there'd be some talk somewhere about this online... I've got a feeling I'm gonna be telling this for quite some time now

I will emphasise right now that I DID NOT - NOT Cheat!

In my quiet little town of Hull theres a guy that owns his own small little gaming stall in an indoor market in a shopping centre called - North Point Shopping Centre on the estate of which I live in the UK of Bransholme.

It was brought to my attention by a friend on my list that he had purchased a copy of GTA IV on the friday prior to launch, so instantly I jumped on a bus and headed up, snapped up the last 2 copies for ne and a friend and headed home where I started on single player and some multi-player too...

This can be proven by checking on my gamercard that the first achievement I unlocked was indeed on the 25/04 and continued to play...

How I played the single player wasn't a rush job, I did indeed sit through my cut-scenes, I did however, taxi constantly, I only did my main game mission, I did not do any buddy things or activities, I did not try for any achievements, I did not try to do any side missions, I just purely did taxi skipping by setting a waypoint, jumping in the back of or jacking in the back of a taxi and then pressing A to skip instantly from one island to another...

I eventually completed my single player run on the 28/04, the day prior to release at 16 hours...

Thusly I was left with nothing to do but chase for 100%, achievements and multi-player. I made the decision on the 29th to head into my local Gamestation of my town centre on Prospect Street and purchase the GTA IV brady games signature series guide to do my 100% rather than wait for the maps to appear online.

I then managed to attain my 100% yesterday, 01/05 to which I apparantly did it in 17 minutes, when it actually, looking at my ingame stats right now, displays - Playing time 47:05:29

My only estimation of this anomaly could be that I attained the 100% achievement 17 minutes after this 100% board became active online...

I was never even aware of this until today when I began receiving abusive and profane message with accusations of cheating directing me over to this social club!

I do believe that due to me gaining the title 4 days early it will potential push to strike me off the leaderboard, which I'm completely fine with, I never gained 100% in this game to get to the top of some leaderboard but for my own enjoyment and love of 100%'ing GTA games and for getting achievements too.

no way. absolutely no chance that is for real.

even if you skip all the cutscenes, conversations etc, and use Romans taxi ability to literally get you everywhere (hence saving on journey times) you wouldn't come close to be being able to do it in 17mins.

couple of the missions are quite long - and even if you run through them, i.e not using cover, each will take you a couple mins at best and theres about 60 of them.

im not going to call u a liar ninjaraiden2003 becus u cud be telling the truth. but iv only played part of the game and im pretty sure that even the cut-scenes of just the section iv played were longer than that. the opening scene took over 5 minutes at least.

He got the game earlier, completed the story/everything up until the last mission and saved. Once the SC went live, he just went a head and completed the last mission within 17mins time, which was then recorded by the SC as being 100% complete as if he went through the whole game within that time frame. Rockstar weren't accepting any games being completed before the 29th, so if he had beaten it before than, it would not have been recorded at all.

Also, it takes well over 17mins to find every Pigeon in the game and certain mission aren't unlocked until you complete half of the other ones.

It's just a coincidence that he completed the game 100% when he did. It was ridiculous getting the game early as all we did was receive constant messages the entire time asking how the game was or how we got it.

It could be an SCM hack, you see GTA missions are all written in this script format, if someone was able to decompile it and rearrange the missions they could put the end mission right after the first mission in the SCM and therefore the game would say it was completed. Previous GTA games have had some cheats which were not considered cheating for the purposes of completing the game. For example in GTA: Vice City the Destroy All Cars code did not count as cheating when saving your game, so this may be a case of one specific, or perhaps a few specific cheats not counting against completion. Whatever the reason it seems rather suspect.
