Tales of series has shipped over 16 million units

Namco Bandai has announced that its popular Tales of series has shipped over 16 million units worldwide since its 1995 debut with Tales of Phantasia

I'd like to know how did it fared in the west since Graces F' debut on the ps3. I hope it is selling well enough to show them just how stupid that decision with Vesperia was and to assure it won't happen again.

@scruffy_bear

So, Vesperia sold better on 360 in NA than in both systems in Japan?! Oh wow... it might be true, I don't know, but I find that really hard to believe. Thanks for the numbers though.

edit: My bad, I thought you had add numbers for ps3 and 360 both - no wonder it didn't made any sense! lol
Vesperia on ps3 in japan sold 0.43m, making a total of 0.63m in Japan and 0.28m in NA.

I'm guessing Graces and Xillia did well over here. Considering they're bringing over not only Xillia 2, but Zestiria was announced for localization immediately after it was revealed.

Great time for Tales fans, no doubt.

scruffy_bear3803d ago

And don't forget on February the 28 in the EU Tales of Symphonia Chronicles

Kurisu3803d ago

Oh, you beat me too it!

I've still not played a Tales game yet. Going to give Xillia a go once I'm done with Lightning Returns and FFX | X-2 HD.

Snookies123803d ago

@scruffy_bear - Ah yeah, completely forgot about Symphonia... Dang, this is one heck of a time for Tales fans lol!

@Kurisu - Definitely give it a go! I loved Xillia. Though, the story was honestly not as good as Graces F's. I enjoyed the battle system more, and the fact that the characters were proportional to the world around them. Tales games still need a bit of work on character movement. As you'll notice at times it looks kind of rigid with their animations. Other than that though, they're really awesome games.

Kurisu3803d ago (Edited 3803d ago )

Maybe I'll look in to getting Graces F first then. That's not the first time I've heard that it's better than Xillia. Thanks!

Snookies123803d ago

@Kurisu - Well overall I liked Xillia better than Graces F. You can't go wrong with either game though really! Graces had the better story for sure. Xillia had better visuals and faster paced gameplay.

" I enjoyed the battle system more, and the fact that the characters were proportional to the world around them."

What do you mean with "proportional"?

They realised that was a mistake. That's why PS3 has since exclusively got Tales of Xillia (1 and 2) and is also getting a new exclusive Tales of game, Tales of Zespiria. And its already been confirmed to be releasing in the West. I think from that we can guess it's been faring well since Graces F.

Vesperia was one of the best tales game but it was placed in a wrong console in the U.S, I was force to buy a 360 just to play this wonderful game.

JodyCones3803d ago

I honestly thought there were tons of better jrpgs on PS3 last gen. That one never stood out too me that much, but of course was really the only one on 360.

Inception3803d ago

It deserved more but as a long time fans of Tales series, i'm glad Namdai doesn't abandon their RPG like Capcom and Konami did with Breath of Fire and Suikoden.
