Rainbow 6: Patriots ‘Had To Be Remade’

When Ubisoft announced Rainbow 6 Patriots in November of 2011, it pencilled in the next installment of the tactical shooter series for a 2013 debut. With 2014 just weeks away and not so much as a new trailer for Patriots in years, Ubisoft has finally explained what happened to the project. Ubisoft North American president Laurent Detoc confirmed that Rainbow 6 Patriots had to be rebooted.

At least we get some news, some truth.

Basically they realized the game was crap and they couldn't justify selling it for $60, so instead of trying to trick us into buying a broken product, they sucked it up, took the loss of $, and restarted with the goal of making a good game.

I actually respect that, and if they can't do it, then they aren't pushing out a broken game.

I kind of wish more Dev's did this.

I've started to have a renewed sense of respect for Ubisoft as of late.

They seem to be getting their sh*t together with a whole slew of new/remakes coming out for the new generation.

They've has some fantastic titles in the past, and then they sort of fizzled out for a bit. While others, EA namely, just smothered the industry with a mixed bag of games ranging from ambitious, great, to downright awful.

One of the few games I wanted to play that would bring me back into the FPS genre, and now I have to wait. Good thing I have a PS4 so when the new game comes out I can start fresh.

I'm honestly impressed that Ubisoft have treated the RS IP with this much respect. There's no reason they should tarnish the credibility of the franchise after Vegas 1 & 2. They need to nail the first to third person transition.

Yep. The long term money lost by hurting the reputation of a franchise can be much greater than the short term financial gain of rushing it out the door. But EA never looks beyond their next quarterly earnings.

Vegas 1 and 2 are easily the worst games in the series

raven shield and rouge spear DESTROY them both

vegas 1 and 2 were dumbed down to the max

no tactical phase, regen health

still cool games I guess, just not rainbow six
