Batman Arkham Origins – Are People Becoming Tired of The Bat?

Pixelgate.Uk writes:

''The recent release of Batman: Arkham Origins has been met with somewhat of a lukewarm reception compared to the other entries in the franchise. Some may point the finger at the numerous bugs present in the game; others find the story lacking. Is the Batman, or at least the Arkham brand, losing its appeal?

Arkham Asylum and City garnered high praise for almost every element of the respected experiences, with the extremely tight core gameplay of both titles being the focal point of much of the laudation. The fluent combat offered both accessibility and depth in a wonderfully crafted system. So much so that it’s now became something of a benchmark in modern video games that involve hand-to-hand combat.''

Jumping to conclusions whenever some even that can be viewed is even remotely downward will never cease. Reasons are never explored. People just hopped to make the most convenient negative suggestion that they can.

Origin reception came from the fact that it was no where near as good as the two previous games in the series, and that likely happened this game wasn't developed by the people who made the first two game.

Cut cost = cut quality more often than not.

I agree though I will say that releasing a game so simialar had an impact. Rocksteady will push it forward on next gen...maybe open up the DC catalogue. But...its not growing tired b/c a solid next gen super hero game by rocksteady will make a lot of money!

princejb1343809d ago

i loved both batman games however
when i play a game to much with sequel after sequel i get tired of it
rocksteady or who ever should definitely open up into other heroes
i feel like green lantern will work very well with kinect
"lantern do a fist" " lantern shield"
so many voice commands possible
however i would really like to explore a flash video game
he's my favorite character after all

Honestly, this ones story was just a very boring story... there was nothing to look forward too.. Its because it wasnt written by rocksteady. Its like they had all the never heard of batman drop out villains.... rather then any real known ones. Then they fucked the bane story up... was just so lame.. least the ones by rocksteady remained true to the comics with their own spin.. this one just tried to re write the history.

not really, the game was actually surprisingly good for a prequel and i liked it,now i will say i am tired of the joker,i love the character, but for gods sake, hes in every batman game, batman has a lot of villains, give them a bigger spotlight next time i swear to god if the joker comes back some way and is the main villain in the next game im gonna do something very JOKERISH to WB

princejb1343809d ago

joker is awesome and bat mans greatest foe
however i agree batman does have more villains

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3809d ago

This game followed the expected trend of the franchise. The first was spectacular, the second was okay, Origins was flat out boring. After I beat Deathstroke I sold it. I was expecting him to be a more prevalent villain and he was the main reason I bought it.

What they needed to do was just focus on one villain and write a meaningful story for him.

I like Batman, but Arkham city was a shallow game. I felt like I was playing a product. It just didn't have any depth, other than in the combat system. The city felt empty and boring. I wish there there would have been more secrets, dark alleys, and more bad guys. It just wasn't Dark enough.

game breaking flaws at launch and the fact that the mp was absolutely horrid

The best Batman Arkham game still isn’t on PS5, and that’s a problem

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is almost here, but I can't revisit the best Arkhamverse game on PS5 without sacrificing quality.

Not a fan of Orgins. Blame it on the absence of Conroy & Hamill. Blame it on the lack of atmosphere compared to Asylm. Hell blame it the devs thst dicked over Wii U owners like me that purchased the game only for support be dropped as a thank you to me. It's better than Knight but that's not saying much. I don't care for that entry either.

Rebel_Scum120d ago

tbh buying a game like that for WiiU should’ve been an obvious non-purchase when it existed on better hardware.

Cacabunga120d ago

Origins is amazing..
my favorite Batman is Batman and Robin on mega drive.. an HD REMASTER of that would still look glorious

ZeekQuattro119d ago

I got it launch. Kinda hard to go back. I'm supposed to know they were going to drop support months after the fact. 🤣

Exvalos120d ago

You sound like a salty fanboy, that it didn't come to your precious plastic of choice. It's not the developers fault Nintendo continues making underpowered hardware. It's our fault because we keep buying it. Yes I say (we) I'm part of the problem as well.

ZeekQuattro119d ago

I have a PS3 and a Wii U. How was I a salty fanboy? I bought the game on the system I wanted it for.

Rebel_Scum119d ago

Nah my comment has nothing to do with whether you’d know or not that they’d drop support.

Buying any AAA game of that era for a WiiU you should’ve known you’d be sacrificing graphics and load times.

LucasRuinedChildhood120d ago

It's solid but Origins is definitely not the best Arkham game.

LoveSpuds119d ago

Smacks of hyperbole to me, talk about clutching at straws to create some drama around PS5!!

Titles like these are designed to get you to come in, go to their comment section and tell them how they're so wrong so they can boost their numbers.

Phoenix76120d ago

Even though its not the best arkham game in the series, its still an enjoyable game in its own right. What it do really well at though, was the crime investigations scenes. Which imo, were the best of the franchise.

goldwyncq120d ago

I don’t know about best game but it definitely has the best story and boss fights.

boing1120d ago

Never played it and recently I've finally tried it via cloud on psn. It's not the best for sure, but it ain't bad either.

Batman: Arkham Origins - Open World Busy Work that Doesn't Hold Up 10 Years Later

Batman: Arkham Origins launched 10 years ago today, and sadly doesn't stand the test of time as well as its predecessors.

Petebloodyonion200d ago

I fail to grasp why this title is worse compared to Arkham City (according to the article) as the author didn't provide any argument to explain why aside from that it felt the bigger map compared to Arkham Asylum made the experience less tight.
More importantly, the author seems like he never played Arkham City since he described the game as linear (alongside Asylum).

The Unjustly Forgotten Batman: Arkham Origins Deserves A Resurgence

Despite certain flaws, Batman: Arkham Origins is a splendid entry in the legendary Arkham series and deserves better than being forsaken.

lellkay314d ago (Edited 314d ago )

It's the worst of the three in my opinion, but still really enjoyable. Definitely underated and gets far more crap that it deserves.

Should be included with the other Arkham games in the bundle.

Demetrius313d ago

I'm honestly enjoying it alot, my first time playing since I just decided to get a Xbox 360 slim for 65$, I cop some other gems too tho, I went into Arkham origins not expecting better than Arkham city but it does deliver plus the guy who voices batman did a good job aiming for the young Bruce impression
