Today in History: December 8th, 2004- Viewtiful Joe 2 Snubs Xbox and Lands on Sony Hardware

Triverse writes, "Back in the day, Microsoft had it kind of tough getting original titles on their Xbox system. Some companies showed support while hold certain games back for whatever reason. Viewtiful Joe 2 is one of those titles that snubbed the console from Seattle. Previously released on the Nintendo Gamecube, Viewtiful Joe 2 made his debut today, nine years ago, on Sony's Playstation 2."

Why are people so obsessed with Microsoft?

Dehnus3793d ago

It's envy I suppose. Same reason they hate Nintendo these days. People have this need to put down the toys other people bought only because they are envious of those toys.

It's a bit sad really. As most of us grew out of that after the playground, some of us stay in it and become even worse. As playground kids know that it is just what console your parents can afford or bought.

WeAreLegion3793d ago

They hate Microsoft because of the DRM crap. They went back on it, but they wouldn't have if they weren't forced to.

They don't hate Nintendo. They just want Nintendo to make better games. Super Mario 3D World is amazing! We want deeper experiences though. New IP's, perhaps?

Dehnus3793d ago

@WeAreLegion
YOu do know Sony had worse DRM crap before the PS3 was even out right? I mean they installed WORMS and TROJANS on your PC if you placed one of their Audio CD's in your PC.

Infact they tried to replace the CD standard with their own just for that reason.

All companies have "blood" on their hands.

And "They"... since when do you speak for the whole "legion" ;).

SNACK_SHARK_TROLL3793d ago

I really wish they would make another for the PS4, I waited for a part 3 on the PS3 or at least a port of Viewtiful joe: Red hot Rumble, but it never happen.

wolfsaviorzx3793d ago

Just play Red Hot Rumble on Gamecube.

SNACK_SHARK_TROLL3793d ago

Yeah the reason why I said a port of Viewtiful joe: Red hot Rumble. Because they had it on the PSP, me and a few others use to kill that game.

wonderfulmonkeyman3793d ago

I really wish Viewtiful Joe would make it into Smash as a character. I dunno how they'd make use of his slow down and speed up powers without making him broken, but I'm sure they'd find a way...

SpiralTear3793d ago

His Final Smash could be summoning Six Majin.

Xer0_SiN3793d ago

what do you mean...back in the day? lol

ApolloTheBoss3793d ago

Well this was released almost 10 years ago. So it counts as back in the day.

fossilfern3793d ago

Dunno why you got a disagree 2004 was a long time ago :/. I miss the early 2000s.

Gods & Superheroes: The Story of Clover Studio

VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "The legacy of a video game developer isn't always contingent on its longevity or the number of games it develops. Some studios end up burning out fast and leaving behind only a few games to remember them by, but once in a while those few games are enough to make such a lasting impression that years after the studio's closure people still remember its name and speak fondly of the titles it created.

This kind of reverence is reserved for only a select few studios, ones that end up creating some of the most lasting and memorable games of all time, but which for one reason or another are still unable to survive in the harsh video game industry. Few development studios exemplify this better than Capcom's revered former in-house developer, Clover Studio. In total, the developer was around for less than three years, but still managed to leave behind an indelible mark on the people who played its games. This is the story of Clover Studio."

Breath of Fire and Darkstalkers, please

Breath of fire 3 remasterrrrr

ApocalypseShadow1650d ago (Edited 1650d ago )

I could use another Viewtiful Joe.

Kenshin a go go baby!

Darkstalkers definitely. I'd prefer a 2D extravaganza. If not, using the SF Engine would still be great.

Morrigan, Demetri, Lilith, Baby Bonny Hood and the gang would be awesome.

La la la!

gangsta_red1650d ago

If we can get Capcom to go the Arc Systems route in graphics with Darkstalkers, but make it a little more gritty and dark but with that anime flare I would be full on board.
