Contrast Having all Bronze Trophies Was “A Legitimate F*ck Up”, PlayStation Plus “Isn’t a Gold Mine”

Over on Reddit, Compulsion Games Community and PR Manager Sam Abbott posted about how they are aware of the glitches with Contrast, and revealed that a patch for the PS4 version (and other consoles) is in QA right now, with a planned release date of next week. If you’re experiencing framerate issues though, Compulsion recommends you re-download the game from the PlayStation Store. - PSLS

I wonder what would've replaced Contrast if they couldn't do it on PS+. Tiny Brains?

TomShoe3821d ago

Who knows. I guess they just kind of needed a free game for launch to keep PS+ going.

Contrast is an OK game, but it's not going to blow your mind. I certainly expect the quality of titles to ramp up as more devs start putting games on PS4, especially indie titles.

ZodTheRipper3821d ago

I deleted Contrast after playing half an hour ...and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This game probably would have failed completely if it weren't for PS Plus.
Resogun on the other hand probably would have made much more profit for Housemarque if sold normally through PSN.

I liked the story telling and the platforming was great. I would have given this a 9 put 10.

I didnt see any major issues just a couple of glitches.

I'm on the same page as Zod, Contrast is terrible imo. Not only is it really short, it has terrible jumping and wall=phase mechanics, the story doesn't help you at all in some parts on where to go or how to get some things going. It's like, okay I know I use shadows but where? The hotel was horrible to climb. The only thing even liked about it was the background/setting/atmosphere.

I'm still trying fun stuff out in resogun though, currently trying to save 10 humans all at once with keeping my multiplier. I've done it with five and done 9 humans but lost the multiplier. It's fun and once you do it you see how these extremely high scores came in to place.

Actually Zod, not to be that guy, but it wouldn't have made any difference to Housemarque. Sony already paid for the game to made. As far as I know, any sales of Resogun would go directly to Sony.

Probably just would have released Sound Shapes, Flow or Flower earlier and gave that.

Are the trophies easy to get if they are all classed as bronze? lol

Panaru3821d ago (Edited 3821d ago )

Yes, they're all incredibly easy. I don't understand the complaint.

Edit: Oh, I see, it wasn't a complaint, it was a dev saying it was a mistake.

Either way, I didn't mind. I loved the game and hope they follow up on it.

admiralvic3820d ago

The tiering has no real indication of how hard it is to do. It's just a value attached to doing something. It is hardly rare for the hardest trophy to be silver or in some cases bronze.

You're goddanm right it's a gold mine. What the hell has MS ever done for you? Or given you? Yeah, that's what I thought.

I liked the game. The story was interesting, the voice acting was good, there was some good art direction, the music was pleasant, there was even some nice humor. The gameplay was fun and the concept was cool. Problems: fairly glitch heavy, but nothing game breaking, and it was a little easy. All in all, it was a memorable game experience for me, so I liked it a lot.

If we get two games every month the quality of Resogun and Contrast, I will be absolutely elated. I played Resogun and thought it was a solid 8.5 with considerable replayability.

My 6 year-old daughter and I both enjoyed Contrast. It had some unique elements, especially the shadow play where the princess saves the idiot prince repeatedly. It was well worth the 6-8 hours we spent on it and I would give it a solid 8 with not much replayability.

Games like Flow, Flower, Escape Plan, and Tiny Brains would be great options over the next few months. Maybe throw in Knack late 2014, and honestly Final Fantasy 14 would be a great PS+ since it would get people in the door for free with a free month, and only be a subscription if you liked it.
