Dealspwn: "It's not all been sunshine and roses this generation. These aren't our shouts for the worst games to be seen over the past seven years or so, but rather the most heartfelt disappointments. These are the games and the moments that really floored us with just how little they met our expectations. Expect controversy, and let us know your thoughts in the comments box at the end."
The GTA 5 Agent Trevor DLC episode could have been a real treat for fans on PlayStation and Xbox, before it was scrubbed sometime before 2017.
With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.
I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.
Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder
One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
Grand Theft Auto V was released on PC on the 14th of April 2015. That means the game will be nine years old in four days, and it’s still among the most-played titles on Steam. With a 24-hour peak of 145K players, it’s as popular as Baldur’s Gate 3, Apex: Legends, and Destiny 2.
Earlier this year, BioWare was hit with layoffs as part of a downsizing of parent company Electronic Arts, but fans have been reassured that the next Mass Effect game hasn’t been impacted. Likewise, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s development is still churning along, with BioWare putting it at the forefront of its focus and rumors suggesting that it could launch sometime later this year. Fans might be getting another look at the long-in-development Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at the Summer Game Fest in June.
If the recently posted job offering for a temporary development manager is any indication, BioWare could have yet another surprise up its sleeve for when Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf are nearing completion. This mystery BioWare video game could truly be anything, from another spin-off of its two major properties to something entirely new. All there is to go on at the moment is a vague mention in the job posting, and it might still be some time before BioWare is ready to confirm any new games in its pipeline.
So a studio that spent years on anthem then this dragon age thing is now also working on another ip along with mass effect,
You think they would be worried that there brand has been on 3 major screw ups
Dragon age 3 launched broken with the frostbite engine yes its a good game but you can see in the late game how rough it was
anthem......
Mass effect 4 well that dev team was fired so yeah.....
They should make sure this new dragon age is a goat instead of putting more work on the table
How about they focus on those games and not over extend themselves? We don't need another Anthem.
Bioware died after Inquisition (some would even argue after ME3). They are no longer the same company.
BF3. Great game. Could've been WAY better.
Really GTA V? I stopped reading right there.
Abuse of microtransactions, $60 for an incomplete game with day one DLC, Resident Evil 6, RROD, DmC, and sadly, all the studios that got shuttered was my disappointments of last gen.
I really enjoyed this list. I didn't agree with GTA V but I thought the author of that entry raised good points. Some of the missions were poorly paced and I can certainly see why some fans were left disappointed.
Wolfenstein was a big disappointment but like one of the authors points out you need to invest in something for it to be a true disappointment and I just didn't invest in this title. It just looked cookie cutter from the start. I think they were afraid to do a REAL sequel to RTCW because in today's market it would have been difficult to market a 'serious cinematic' shooter. Still - I would have liked it if they grew some balls and actually tried something dark in tone like RTCW.
I guess I'd have to say for me the real disappointments were things like Stalker 2's cancellation and replacement with a f2p MMO that lacks any of the A-life features I found so exciting about Stalker. Half life 3's total absence was a disappointment as well. Now we're all very jaded and rarely expect any news on this front but taking into account the whole freaking generation is pretty depressing. I mean if I went back to myself when the xbox 360 was first released and said, "Hey, ya know that episodic trilogy you're just ejaculating over? Well don't get excited because in the year 2013 I still don't know jack shit" I'd be pretty bummed out. It would have been nice, after ALL this time, to have had something.
Oh and for me also the direction of the CoD series. After CoD4 I enjoyed WaW and thought it was a nice change of pace but the news on the next modern warfare just got worse and worse. It gave the middle finger to the PC and instead of being the next level of Modern Warfare's enjoyable and thoughtful campaign MW2, and the whole series from there, just became a Michael Bay-esque funhouse. Yeah it still sells and I know there were a lot of fans but the equation for an enjoyable but thoughtful modern warfare shooter was just lost then and there and the whole damn market became flooded with titles named things like ShootFace:Covert Ops - Near Future Modern Warfare.
All military first person shooters, open world games was the GREATEST disappointment. you play one you played them all. same format KILLING!!!
