From The Indie Mine: Space exploration, starship battles, and diplomatic decisions await you in the action packed expansion Drox Operative: Invasion of the Ancients.
All in all, the expansion does provide a bit of a freshener to the basic Drox Operative game. If you enjoyed the original, you will likely enjoy the new features and quests. The new Scavenger race is a joy to play. However, if you’re more of a story-driven roleplayer, or didn’t find Drox Operative to be that entertaining, then you’ll probably want to pass on the expansion.
Drox Operative, from the beginning, offered a depth that was surprising and unexpected, but also welcome and refreshing.
When I (Blane Humphries of TwoDashStash) was asked to review Drox Operative, I had no idea what I was getting into. This was a game that received very little media attention and was developed by a small group of developers at Soldak Entertainment. I did not realize that I was about to play one of the best games to come out on the PC in the past 5 years.
Drox Operative is primarily a 4x game, with the galactic scale you would expect to find in Sins of a Solar Empire or Endless Space; however, it goes beyond that. Drox Operative features a very robust item looting system, like you would expect to find in Borderlands, combined with fast paced action, strategy, RPG elements.
