PlayStation 4 'starting to sell out' (UK)

Sony's PlayStation 4 was launched in the UK at midnight and is already "starting to sell out".

In a statement to the BBC a Sony spokesman said: "We are starting to sell out - very rapidly but [we] will continue to work with all parts of the supply chain including our partners at retail to get more, as and when we can."

glad I got my pre-order and ready for Dec13 in the Middle East, if anyone from this region did not pre-order and wants the PS4 they should do so now, the markup price for an imported PS4 from America is $800.

What town? I'm in Melbourne and its sold out everywhere. Even the second preorder arriving before Xmas are soldout, EB are accepting third preorder for next year.

I asked if they had any Xbone and they said yes.

I'm in Aus and got a launch ps4.I live in a small coastal holiday town in NSW only 20,000 people. My local store said they sold out of launch ps4 consoles months ago and have over 200 people waiting for a ps4 ATM. There will be some more stock in December some time.

Still plenty of xbox1's around in stores though. Just sayin's all ;)

Same. I live in a small town in vic and the closest JB is in Melbourne. I got in just in time for the Christmas shipping, but still plenty of xbox ones left. Guess its good for Sony that its sold out everywhere! Not good for me as ive still got to wait 3 more weeks... even worse for people that didnt pre order in time, 3rd shipment is february!

$800 is still better then what I saw in Bahrain, some are asking for $1300. Better wait for the official release.

go to the Sony agent stores, I got my pre-order card from them, most game stores want to sell at a markup after launch so they don't take pre-orders.

i preorderd mine from virgin they had quite alot of units to preorder from but its sold out and you know most af the middle eastrens are buying ps4's

it's sold out in new Zealand and the next available shipment for them is not until jan 31st and that's on the biggest online store we have.

looks like my plan's of getting one just after Christmas are over and ill have to wait longer unless I can find one in a store but I don't think so lol

yeah we got dicksmith too but their website says Temporarily out of stock.
just hoping that they have it in the shops when I got the money for it but im guessing since mighty apes stocks sold out till jan 31st that there might only be limited numbers getting shipped here for awhile

Well they aren't sold out in the stores near me, Tesco still has plenty and so does Game and Asda.
Before I get burned at the stake, it could be a good thing as it means Sony is keeping supplies going thus selling more consoles...
