Same story since 2010. And then we get steaming, hot-garbage like Steel Batillion. Not a single Kinect game has yet justified the device.

princejb1343823d ago

Agreed
I think kinect is good for kids to burn their energy out but not so much for grown ups

calis3823d ago

Kids should be burning their energy up outside.

cleft53823d ago (Edited 3823d ago )

The idea of Kinect is great, however the actual execution of Kinect is terrible. I have been watching a broadcaster play Ryse and the whole time I was thinking that I would never want to use a Kinect to do any of that crap. Same goes for Dead Rising 3 and the worst part is that the damn thing didn't work well enough the first time. When I see people using the Kinect 2.0 it usually devolves into them yelling at the Kinect to do a simple command that would have taken less than a second with a button press.

If they could ever make the Kinect work the way it was suppose to than it would be amazing, but to bet your entire console future on the Kinect is a huge mistake.

princejb1343823d ago

@calis

I agree kids should be playing outside
Sadly we live in a world now where kids don't like to run around as much. Kids nowadays prefer gaming not their smartphones

I don't know, for fitness based stuff I think it's a great bit of technology. I'd love to have a go at Insanity while utilizing kinect. However being honest, I don't want to be dripping with sweat in my living room.

Still, for real games though, I agree, so far there has been absolutely nothing that has changed my mind about kinect's value for gamers.

Stick893823d ago

Coming from someone who has done Insanity, Kinect wouldn't really serve any purpose. Honestly you do way too much way too quickly. A legitimate heart rate monitor (one with a chest strap) will give you far more accurate numbers (hear rate, calories burned, etc...) than a camera ever will.

Also, sweat is a serious issue, I thought P90X was bad, I was wrong.

infectedaztec3823d ago

Does kinect fitness, count as a game? Because that's a potential system seller. Alot of good things have been said about the potential of D4 too.
I'll be honest, it wasn't kinect that made me change my preorder to xbox one but its future potential is one of the reasons. Each to their own though.

Automatic793823d ago

So what are Kinect sports, child of Eden, Dance Central. All games mentioned brought hours of fun to my house hold. Kinect games will get better.

Alexious3823d ago

Obviously this refers to core games, not casual ones.

EasilyTheBest3823d ago

I still play tiger woods golf with Kinect, its way better than using a controller. I still play Eden and I love playing Kinect Sports 1 and 2.
Rise of Nightmares was hardcore and I loved that aswell. I always found it weird watching others trying to play it cos they never seem to grasp it...

GusBricker3823d ago

Plus, if you don't like playing with Kinect, they give you the option to play with your controller. Win win.

TomahawkX3823d ago

I actually think supporting both controller and kinect will hold back what kinect can really do. Go for all or go for broke.

Alexious3823d ago

You may be right in that.

GusBricker3823d ago

Well, some people aren't going to give Kinect a shot, no matter what, you know what I mean?

MadLad3823d ago

The game seems to really be shaping up so far.
Time will tell though.

Hidetaka SWERY65 Suehiro on his unique work and inspirations

Hidetaka Suehiro, also known as SWERY65, may not have many big hit games on his portfolio, but he still belongs to the important figures of the Japanese gaming scene. His work is truly unique - visually, narratively and thematically, he combines many elements with various references. The results are quite divisive, but at the same time, Swery also has a large number of fans. Spy Fiction, Deadly Premonition or D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die are familiar to everyone who likes slightly "different" games. What exactly is the source of their uniqueness? Swery revealed more about it in our interview.

jznrpg432d ago (Edited 432d ago )

Deadly Premonition really needs a full remake , I don’t think it will happen though. I’m talking much better mechanics than 2 . Good driving , combat and Bosses would make this an amazing game. The story was really good , I loved the atmosphere it was eerie . But the game itself was janky . I still enjoyed it but it could have been so much more .

Deadly Premonition Director Thinks Game Updates Should Cost Money

Hidetaka Suehiro, director of the Deadly Premonition games, asked on his Twitter as to why developers should update their games for free.

FallenAngel1984448d ago

This guy can go hell

With how many games that get released unfinished, imagine those devs then charging you with future updates

jambola447d ago

Sounds like what fallout 76 did tbh

Chriswheeler22447d ago

I got like 100 hours into 76, havrnt paid for anything extra. Not sure what you are talking sbout

Profchaos447d ago

@chris yeah I played quite a bit I got to level 39 I think all in all but the game was a chore to play solo so I gave up

Terry_B447d ago

He really can go to hell. Deadly Premonition 1 on PC does not even run, and nothing was ever patched.

Anunnaki447d ago

Exactly. The real question is why does the gaming population ever buy games at release when every single game gets post launch patches to fix bugs. Back before consoles had hard drives devs actually put effort into releasing the game in the best possible state. Now it's a given that games are released with bugs that continue to be fixed months down the line.

Jin_Sakai447d ago

Lmao. He compares it to buying a $10 cup of coffee. If something’s wrong with the coffee then you expect to get a new one FREE.

Orchard448d ago (Edited 448d ago )

Yeah, no. That’s a terrible take.

If it’s quality fixes it’s because the developer did something wrong/poorly and should absolutely be free.

If it’s sizable content updates, we already have a system for paying for those - release it as DLC.

p.s. We don’t all spend $10 on coffee at Starbucks. It’s mediocre coffee and isn’t worth $1 never mind $10.

senorfartcushion447d ago

He’s basically describing the live service model except the money that would go to updates comes from microtransactions instead of through the updates themselves

Knushwood Butt447d ago

I actually agree with Orchard.
I never buy Starbucks either.

P_Bomb447d ago

We already have DLC, microtransactions, battle passes and price increases. Who has money left for Starbucks, lol?

isarai447d ago

We shouldn't need to pay for you to finish or fix your damn game. It's not our responsibility to get your product in working order. Wow f@#k off!

kenpachi447d ago

Everyone at EA and Ubisoft eyes just rolled into money signs

Can't believe Francis York Morgan is actually getting another adventure.

Jackhass1654d ago

Yeah, me either. Will be interesting to see if it can recapture the weird appeal of the first one.

Alexious1654d ago

Can't wait for this sequel

Jackhass1654d ago

Here's hoping it takes the story in a direction we'd never expect.

Nacho_Z1654d ago

That's cool about DP2, I enjoyed the original mainly because of the Twin Peaks vibe but damn it was as rough as a badgers arse. More of the same but less janky sounds good.

Veneno1654d ago

If you really love Twin Peaks and David Lynch I think you would believe that Deadly Premonition doesn't work unless it has a good amount of jank. Twin Peaks the Return came out in 2016 and it still leaves modern special effects to the curb for a more handmade, practical feel. Down home yet surreal and existential.

I hope DP2 has a heavy helping of Twin Peaks as much or more than the first. So far it doesn't look that way. I'm concerned.

Jackhass1654d ago

DP2 can have a "handmade" feel without literally being rough/glitchy.

Hardiman1654d ago

I loved Deadly Premonition! Such an odd wonderful game. Really happy it's getting a sequel!
