5 Reason Xbox One wins the Next-Gen Battle

Omnigamer writes, "With both systems having launched, we’ve finally played release titles on each and can fully evaluate both consoles. Each company shipped defective units well still managing to sell over a million consoles at launch, but how do we determine whose got the edge when it comes to console domination?"

I'm not being a fanboy but that is a lame list

Example "4. The NFL" Like that's going to be a BIG system seller in Europe and any other continent other than the US

Yeah the list is nothing new, but what list for ps4 is special?

Don't bore me to tears with 1080p bollocks, because a crap game is crap in 720p as well as 1080p.

What is your precedent for thinking the PS4 will have "crap games" when 80% of the titles are multiplats, and Sony's first party studios are freaking awesome?

The PS3 has absolutely handed it to the 360 in the last 2 years and is still going strong. Despite all the challenges it faced it still won in the end.

The PS4 doesn't face those challenges. It wins on every front and has the head start in popularity. It couldn't be more of a slam dunk for Sony.

People don't see it but Microsoft is abandoning "gamers". It's clear the Xbox is strongly focused on the casual market with it's weaker specs and obsessive focus on TV. And the drive to make all these ridiculously bad Kinect games that noone wants.

Problem is, TV as in the "cable model" is going to be dead and burried in less than 10 years. And convincing the casual market to buy a $500 companion box sounds like a tough sell when they can buy $100 alternatives.

I think these factors are going to lead to a disaster for Xbox one. Microsoft is making big mistakes on every front, the surface, Windows 8, now the Xbox. Going back to the surface, they did the same thing, they priced it way, way outside the market segment they were trying to appeal to, and it was an unmitigated disaster. The Xbox won't be that bad because of coasting on the Xbox name. But mark my words it's going to be a blowout in Sony's favour this time around.

@FightingLemur

You could have condensed all those ramblings of yours down into a couple of simple statements:

1) I hate MS and everything it stands for.
2) I want to blow the president of Sony.

AgitatedOcelot3837d ago (Edited 3837d ago )

I don't hate Microsoft at all.

I've actually enthusiastically tried every Microsoft OS ever made since Dos 6.2. I think Windows 7 is the best thing they ever did and it's a shame to see them go from a high note like that to where they are now. I even use Windows 8 on my home computer, despite it's flaws, because there are a few improvements over 7 in the underpinnings that I find it worth using for. And of course because I got a super cheap upgrade price for it.

I genuinely think they are on the wrong path and they are struggling and clawing against Apple and Google to try and stay relevant, but just doing so many things wrong.

It may surprise you to know I was of the opinion that Sony was finished after the PSN hack. But they really turned things around.

THAT is what Microsoft needs to do, and what I'd like them to do. Make the kind of turnaround Sony has started to make in the last 2 years. But if anything they are digging themselves deeper and deeper into a place of arrogance, and ignorance of what the consumer actually is looking for.

They need to start by getting in touch with reality. The one where they aren't the only game in town any longer, and they have to be really on the ball. Seriously working over their marketing division is another thing I think they need to do. Because the way they Xbox One has been marketed has been confusing and disastrous to say the least.

@FightingLemur

Ok dude. Good points.
I'm in agreement with you in the whole.
I always thought MS got into the console business to try and beat Sony and Nintendo at their own game.
During the life span of the original xbox and a fair chunk of the 360, I think they were giving it a really good shot.
However they, and Sony, saw the success Ninty was having with its motion controllers and thought they wanted a piece of that pie. I'm pleased they've backtracked on the dumb 'You are the controller' crap, and at least the kinect2 will be an addition to the console and hopefully not the whole purpose of it.

I do hope MS has a big focus on the games in the coming years, and not just think they have their trojan horse for the living room finally in place.

Ha ofcourse you wouldn't want to mention ps4s graphical advantage. It does everything better. Performance, cosmetics, better dvr, better yearly service with TONS of free games, more and better ram, more and better game studios, no gimmicky camera eating up 10percent of its resources, ps4 duelshock is said to be better than the x1 controller while many reviews say x1 remote took a step back, especially in the trigger department. The bottom line is x1 doesn't really do anything better than ps4 so quit acting like it. Find it funny how you don't want us to mention the fact that the console can render games at a higher graphical fidelity... we understand 1080p isn't gonna make a bad game good, but its gonna make a good game even better. If ryse were on ps4it would run at 1080p/60fps.

Street Fighter 6 Balance Patches Will Be "More Frequent" Than Yearly, Director Says

According to Director Takayuki Nakayama, Street Fighter 6 balance patches will now be pushed from "time to time" instead of annually.

PapaBop1h ago

Honestly they should create a balance schedule and stick to it. "From time to time" is ambiguous and with the competitive scene booming, the last thing we need is NRS like knee jerk balance patches. I think twice a year is fair, half way through a season and then the start of the next season.
