How ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ is a rip-off of ‘Homefront’

Acclaimed screen writer, Stephen Gaghan, created a story for 'Call of Duty: Ghosts' that breaks from the typical “America’s the best”-bravado and instead takes player to a vulnerable America that is fighting to protect its sovereignty. However its a story that ripped off 'Homefront',the 2011 game written by John Milius.

Except Homefront was the better game.

static52453822d ago

I liked Homefront for the most part but that AI for the people you fought along side with was horrible.. Couldn't tell you how many time I died because of them

coolbeans3822d ago

Ehhh...I find both of them to be close in quality with Ghosts being a tad better, but that's not exactly saying a whole lot.

ChronoJoe3822d ago

I agree but I think Homefront told a much, much better story. Which ultimately held my attention better. Homefront was actually really good I was just disappointed that it only had something like 4 multiplayer maps - big let down in that department.

coolbeans3822d ago

Although I was glued to Homefront's story much more, I don't really think that had to do with quality. I mean...it's so stupid to anticipate North Korea just getting all this property because reasons and amassing such an army; however, it's in Mulius (and whatever other writers) having such a seemingly legit conviction in making such an absurd idea believable that gives it such a charm.

After a while, those newspaper clippings by 'Muliusadomus' became so much more and more detailed that it almost felt like he was madly writing all of these reasons just to give himself a reason to purchase more ammo.

Really? Mediocre less than 6 hrs SP? MP became a BF wanna be that failed to lift off? PS2 like graphics? Didn't you get the memo that it was a terrible game reviewed by reputable game sites? That it forced it's publisher to close down the studio that developed it? The publisher then subsequently filed for bankruptcy?

Oh, I get it it, you are nothing but a troll.

Majin-vegeta3822d ago

Homefront looks like a good movie...oh wait we're talking about the game??That game had a lot of potential but if they release a second one lets hope they pick it up where they went wrong.

TIER1xWOLFPACKx3822d ago

crytek bought the rights to homefront so dont expect anything spectacular gameplay wise it will have nice visuals but the gameplay will be lackluster

MrCrimson3822d ago

I like the Crysis games. They are pretty fun.

TIER1xWOLFPACKx3822d ago

@crimson yeah im not saying the crysis games are bad but to me they lack replay value and the multiplayer is hit and miss

Demoa3822d ago

they even copied the cover art

LightofDarkness3822d ago (Edited 3822d ago )

It's most likely they just jumped on the whole White House Down/Olympus Has Fallen idea that seems to be popular among the dudebro movie goers.

TheEnigma3133822d ago

I know I'm definitely in the minority here, but the last military shooter I thoroughly enjoyed was The Medal of Honor remake. I still play the multiplayer.

TIER1xWOLFPACKx3822d ago

are you on about medal of honor warfighter or the first remake medal of honour? those games were actually pretty good i still play the multiplayer now and again, the campaign wasnt anything spectacular but it was good

TheEnigma3133822d ago

I'm talking about the first remake. I didn't like the campaign, but I loved the multiplayer. It reminded me of COD4. I loved the sound of the guns, maps, perks; it was awesome.

InTheLab3822d ago

Loved the single player but dice really screwed up the multiplayer. It managed to be worse than Ghosts.

TheEnigma3133822d ago

DO you mean warfighter? I didn't play that one; looked terrible. The first one was great though.

Kornholic3822d ago

cochise_313, I enjoyed Medal of Honor (2010) as well. Still playing the multiplayer on pc.

TheEnigma3133822d ago

Yeah same here. There's still a few hundred people who play it.

InTheLab3822d ago

Meant the reboot not warfighter. Played an hour of war fighter and knew it was trash.

All Call of Duty Games Ranked from Worst to Best

BLG writes: "Call of Duty has to be the most recognizable franchise on the planet. They didn’t get that way by only making a handful of games.

COD has a long and storied career. Launching as a PC WW2 first-person shooter, Call of Duty has gone through numerous makeovers and been on just about every system. The series has gone through some serious highs and tragic lows. I’ll be looking at each Call of Duty game, the good the bad, and the ugly."

Vanguard better be at the fkn bottom. Can’t believe ppl haven’t eviscerated that game with all its lacking

Minimoth818d ago

Yeah, it's close to the bottom. There are a couple of worse ones. Infinite Warfare definitely deserves its place.

KyRo818d ago

There's a number a lot worse than Vangaurd. It's also a lot better than that car crash Treyarch released before it.

XbladeTeddy817d ago

World at War is my favourite. Didn't know the N-Gage had a Call of Duty.

MadLad817d ago

Same for me.
I was never huge into Call of Duty, but I sunk a lot of time into WaW.
Both the campaign and the multiplayer are on point. Wouldn't mind a remaster.

I quit on CoD for a long while. Though I'm the odd man out that actually really enjoyed the campaign for WWII, being I got it through Humble monthly way back when.

TheLigX817d ago

I really enjoyed the Infinite campaign. Multiplayer... not so much.

Yppupdam817d ago

I agree, The Infinite campaign feels more like it's own thing that they slapped the CoD name on. If it stood on it's own, (sans the CoD name) I think it could have been it's own scifi franchise. And a damn good looking game, to boot. I never bothered to play the multiplayer.

victorMaje817d ago

MW 2019 apart from the desastrous file sizes is way better than AW.

MadLad817d ago

That was one I grabbed for Playstation because it pretty much just came out during the Redbox purge of videogames, and I got it for dirt cheap.

It was great coming home to an update every night, and watching one game eat up almost half my console's memory.

Amplitude817d ago (Edited 817d ago )

Will get disagrees but Infinite Warfare campaign was really good. Decent story, set pieces were amazing and if it didn't have the CoD game on it I'm sure people would have been more into it. Advanced Warfare was alright too. Titanfall 2 was just 1000 times better than both but I enjoyed them for their campaigns. I literally barely gaf about the story I'm in it for the set pieces and 5 hours of being stoned watching cool nonsense happen if I'm in the mood to play a CoD campaign. If I'm looking for a deep plot I'm gonna go somewhere else.
Ghosts was the worst story-wise though lol that cliffhanger ending was so bs.

Also MW 2019 was sick and is one of the best CoD games in yeeeears not sure why it's so low on this dude's list. Campaign was great, multiplayer was great and Warzone was fun for a while. Over it now but shrugs.

Beat the Vanguard campaign too but I can't even remember a single thing about it other than that it felt like it was 45 minutes long. Might be the most forgettable thing I've ever played lol just fully erased from my brain
