Maybe they should put it on the shelf for a few years. Attempting to monetize everything with yearly releases (the worst offenders being COD and NBA Live), it kills creativity. One of the things I like about development is the ability to create whatever you can think of. When you put yourself in a box, and you are forced to create the same thing over and over, you begin to lose interest.

You do know no one is actually forcing you to buy the games right? You dont have to continue buying games. If they think its financially a good investment to continue a series, then they will regardless of what anyone thinks. So if you buy watchdogs and dont think Watchdogs 2 will be any good...dont buy it. Simple really.

I didn't like AC3. I bought ACIV and I literally can't stop playing it. I am digging the pirate life. It gets challenging in the hard area of the map. I keep losing my crew and being shredded by the bigger ships ganging up on me.

My only complaint is earning supplies to build my ship up takes forever and I wish there was more land area to explore. The rough seas take too much of my crew and is so monotonous having to dredge through it. They need to find the right blend. Either you make more money than you know what to do with or you can't earn enough.

The ship combat and higher difficulty curve is what make this game great. Upgrading your ship takes time and the meta game of building a pirate fleet and trading the goods you plundered is freaking brilliant.

After playing this game it's clear to me why Watch Dogs got delayed. There's no way it can measure up to AC Black Flag without a ton of polish and added depth. This is clearly the best launch game out there.

I personally would take the present day out of it and just do a "Tales of Assassins" type of thing. Make it all first hand experience and just tell stories of different Assassins from different times.

Don't forget Templars were in the Americas LONG before Columbus. You can take the next game all the way from its earliest times to the far east during the feudal days, South America during colonization, or even the Wild West. There is so much history to choose from without having to have it tie in with the existing story lines or having to break the game with modern day crap. (my biggest complaint is the way the game seems to skid to a halt for the modern day parts)

I don't get why so many people hate the modern day story of Assassins Creed, it was intriguing until AC3 when they did what they did at the end of the game. I'll say that modern day segments were boring and never got them right. I believe that if they would had done the modern day segments better maybe people would had enjoyed the modern day story better.

Assassin's creed actually was NOT supposed to be a trilogy considering that ubisoft wrote the entire plot out from the beginning and know when and how it's going to end.

Well the truth is that when the original AC was announced , they state that would be a trilogy , but due to the popularity of the game that vision is lost, money talks only AC 2 was a trilogy itself , i would like a proper ending to the series and develop a new ip, but as long make money milking will continue

I would of loved if they put AC4 on hold, made Black Flag into a brand new Pirate IP and then released WatchDogs this year like they were supposed to.

So much sense in your comment, i agree 100%. Im scared that all we are going to get now is the same old creed just with a different setting/country each time.

I say, leave it a good 2-3 years and 1) Overheaul the combat (its way too easy) 2) overhaul the free running mechanics (they are just as annoying as they ever have been) 3) Overhaul the enemy AI (Really dumb AI in pretty much every AC game). Those are my main 3 gripes with these games, they need to concentrate on those instead of prioritizing the setting over them.

The problem with AC4 is that it doesn't feel very much like AC. AC3 felt less like an AC game and AC4 is making it feel like a different franchise.

It's going through an identity crises, I mean for starters why call it AC4 then give it a subtitle...they've never done that before. It's like they wanted this to be a spin off but realised having the number 4 in the title will give it good sales.

Pirates, naval battles and the like doesn't make it a very good AC game in my opinion.

They've totally left the whole Juno thing open aswell despite her being a major threat now.

I know people disliked Desmond but this is why we needed him to push the present story along

Black flag would have been a good entrance for a new pirate IP it would have been original even if using AC engine.

also to clarify some points revelations felt useless because it was originally just side story for ezio that was supposed to be on the 3DS so all the things wrong with revelation is exactly the crap they shorhorned in to make it come across as full game. an as much i love of brotherhood i honestly think that game was originally supposed to be a expansion DLC for AC2.

Agree. Revelations wasn't that good and felt just like an uncompleted game, it has not much to do with the story after Brotherhood.
But I really like Ezio. He was my favourite charakter and AC2 my favourite AC.
I've played every AC except of AC4 because I didn't like the story of AC3 so I wait and buy AC4 later.
A question to all of you. Is it worth buying AC4?

A resounding yes. As the quirks of AC games are there, overall it is a HUGE improvement over 3. Great visuals and they really paid attention to the details. Being out at sea when a storm hits and typhoons are swirling your bow as you try to escape the clutches of a man-o-war is awesome. Oh, it also has whales. WHALES.

Well you can tell very few of you read the article. I really hated desmond but i really do believe they killed him off before they wanted too. Ubisoft gave in to the cry babies and killed there original story by killing desmond before they planed. I still love the franchise and want it to continue moveing forward and so do millions of others. Sales prove that.

Assassins Creed is an excellent blend of historical elements mixed with fiction thats what drives historical geeks like myself. I want more, do an egyptian,myan, Aztek, do it all. I will explore that timeframe because its interesting to me.

Assassin's Creed is Ubisoft's version of Call of Duty, Madden (or any sports game) or EA's semi-annual modern shooter (Battlefield/Medal of Honor, and, in a few years, I'd guess we'll be able to add Titanfall to this list).

It brings in a lot of money, no way they stop making as much of these games as possible. Take Call of Duty for example, it sells between 15 to 22 million units every year. If they skip a year, will they sell 30 to 44 million units the next year? Of course they won't. It simply doesn't make sense for Activision to not have 2 teams working on 2 years development cycle to ensure they have a CoD every year. The same applies to AC.

Let's just hope the next one really embraces the new hardware, as Assassin's Creed 4 barely felt like an upgrade over the third one on PC, which was to be expected, but no less disappointing.

I know I'll get nibbled at for posting this and I know there is a lot of money in the franchise but in all well being best idea would be just to end it .....there's been enough .
I am a huge ac fan back in the day of the classics .... Ezios story by far was the most favourite and they should have ended it after revelations. I preferred the old engine aswell. I know ending it isn't an option so my only advice to Ubisoft would be to take the series back to being very mysterious.... The last two games has lost that ac feel about it that the others had....number 1 having that Tudor shadowy feel to it and same with Ezio. For me they should take it to Egypt where there is a lot of mystery to it.....I'm not sure of the word to use but perhaps get that whispery feel back to the series and bring ac back to monastery's and monks. i havent played it yet get my ps4 on friday so will get to try it then but this one looks like the best yet by far, thats all i know. not even graphic wise but just general gameplay the whole whaling and diving, underwater caves etc looks amazing

i think as long as AC carries on the good work on the historical setting and Assassins vs Templars, I don't really mind.

I really think a character similar in personality to Haytham would be amazing in a Victorian London setting with a plot centered around Whitechapel with the all the suspicion and fear of the time, would be a perfect place for an Assassin creeping around.

I usually hate AC games. They're boring, they lack depth, they're formulaic. AC Black Flag is none of those things. The ship combat is fun, and the constant drive to upgrade both ship and character are addicting as hell. The refocusing of stealth in the franchise is fantastic too.

I don't know where the AC franchise can go after this but it's damn hard to top this campaign without awesome vehicle combat in the next game.

I've been saying it since AC4 was announced. Bring back Patrice and the franchise wouldn't have this problem. The only way you know this is a creed game is because it says assassin's creed on the cover. On a side note though, Ubisoft did say they will be alternating their yearly releases. Next year is Watch dogs so you won't see a creed game until 2015. Then in 2016 it's Watch Dogs 2. They already said this will happen and that Watch Dogs will be a franchise.

I finished ac4 in 50hrs with 65% completion.
Great game. Kinda loses the script yes, but great game.

My biggest problem is open world games being stuffed With TOO much filler! Unending collectibles and theres nothing remotely as refined as tomb raiding from AC2 & revelations.
AC4 has taken far cry to its inevitable evolution. That's great. But I wanted some serious Aztec temple exploration!

Maybe they can nail the thrill of unknown darkness in an Egypt setting with pyramids.
