Today in History: November 17th, 2003- The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition Gamecube is Released

Triverse writes, "Other companies should take note, this is how you build up popularity and demand for a new game in a series. The Legend of Zelda: Collector’s Edition featured The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask both from the Nintendo 64 PLUS a 20 minute, or so, playable demo of the next title in the series- The Wind Waker. There was also a retrospective on The Legend of Zelda series for gamers to enjoy. How gamers got this special disc was ingenious and furthered Nintendo’s reach with gamers."

These deals seem like good collector's items. They are not cheap to acquire.

Same here. Its the one game with out a doubt will never leave my collection. I don't even own a GC anymore.

Snookies123852d ago

Neither do I, my friend. Neither do I... Still, it's one of those gaming treasures that's just nice to own...

Toon_Link3852d ago

Nice man, I still have my copy as well! Someday my kids will be old enough to enjoy these games for themselves.

@ghostTurtle same here about the GC, but that's a major reason why ill be keeping my original Wii.

I still have my copy as well, but I also have my GC. Wait a minute I still have the NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, & Wii U. I just can't sell them.

Zelda Replay: Majora's Mask

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Is Ocarina of Time as legendary as I remembered it? For the most part, yes. In spite of a handful of missteps — a few obtuse puzzles, some tedious backtracking, and a clunky stealth sequence — I don't believe the last 23 years have been unkind to it. Ocarina remains a brilliant example of the medium, a landmark game that shaped the future of its own franchise and 3D gaming in general. After more than two decades it retains its inventive dungeon design, challenging puzzles, dynamic combat, wistful storyline, unforgettable music, and empowering open-air freedom. I feel confident calling it one of the greatest games of the fifth generation, even if I'm no longer prepared to list it among the five best games ever made."

Pure unadulterated fun. They don't make them like this anymore...especially not the triple A industry.

Back when video rental was a thing, I rented out Majoria's Mask, I never finished it though. I did buy the 3DS version before the eshop shutdown, so maybe one day I'll finally play through the whole thing, it's amazing how well these games hold up though. I briefly played Ocarina of Time for a while and it was really fun.

Honestly I really changed my mind on Fi with the remaster because they didn't make her interrupt your gameplay every 5 seconds, that drastically changed my views on her

Inverno118d ago

Technically she's in ToTK but obviously can't take any other form than the sword she was made into. Also the companion feature has been done plenty of times in Zelda, I don't think it'll add anything new. If anything should be brought back it should be the Minish.
