That failing is sure to improve — better games and more of them will appear on the PlayStation 4 — but right now, this is a game console without a game to recommend it. Early adopters of the PS4 this fall are buying potential energy. We're just waiting for a place to spend it.

I watched a lot of good hard working video companies get hacked because it's cool to rail against the man. 99% of them did nothing wrong to anyone. All they did was try to put out their best game. I don't have to agree with reviews based off opinion or different tastes, but The writing is on the wall with Polygon.

I'm not mad. I'm fed up with journalists dragging the industry I love into the ground. Why can't a game be reviewed on its merits instead of being compared to something else. Not everyone is Crytek or Naughty Dog. A game be average looking still be a 10. A game can have the best graphics out there and can be 1 because of game design. Reviewers are shooting from the hip to be the first out with an article. I seen games that take a month of everyday playing to fully come to grips with the game to have an honest assessment of the said game.

Its a fair assessment. For the 100 extra with Microsoft you get a better all round UI experience with XB1. PS4 UI its basic, really, hardly what you call next gen!

The PS4 may achieve better resolutions at launch, but the differences are so minor, it doesn't impact your experience.

Overall, i think the XB1 is better and overtime i believe this will be shown.

I use a gaming system's UI all of the 5 seconds it takes me to pick the game off the menu and start playing. That's the stupidest-ass nitpick anyone could make. A system's UI is never set in stone, it gets upgraded with firmware updates all the time. A system's HARDWARE SPECS, however, IS set in stone, and Sony's already kicking MS's ass there right out the gate. A "better" UI is not worth $100 dollars by a longshot.

I agree with this. The PS4 looks a promising console but at the moment there is not too much to shout about for me in terms of games and what it offers me but just like the PS3 it will start to get some amazing games as the year passes.

I'm not much for conspiracies but when money's exchanges hands end there a mutual benefit to both the giver and the receiver. All your integrity is out the door. I understand that sites needs revenue from ads but when you review a Sony product and you have a MS ad banner people will think twice and question the integrity of the review. Kinda strange review, in some respects they make some good points and highlight some notable issues that sony could resolve in the future, but then skim over or completely miss out very important features.

The PS Vita remote play is a HUGE factor which should have been highlighted in more detail. They also fail to mention the free to play library and the free games which come with the PSN every month.

Oh well they could have given it a 1/10, I'm still going to buy one on the 29th!
