SuperPhillip Central writes, "In one week the second console of the eighth generation will launch. Now that most of the noteworthy games of this past generation have already released, SuperPhillip Central would like to take the time to make mention of the top games released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii home gaming consoles. The type of game that makes our list must have one or both of these requirements: 1) It was influential, ground-breaking, or revolutionary, and 2) It was one of the best games released this generation. If for some reason you disagree with a game on this list or wish to add some of your own suggestions for games to add, please leave us a comment below."
Subscribers of the Extra and Premium tiers of PS Plus will lose access to a total of 12 games during the month of June, 2024.
indivisible was pretty neat. Cute artstyle, fun throwback to older RPGs, shame its leaving but it is on sale often
I'm not surprised by GTA V removal, Rockstar never allows this game to stay long on a subscription service.
They usually allow 4 to 6 months.
I fail to see how the loss of an almost 11 year old game that released across 3 generations is in any way a problem.
From school politics to ping-pong, pistols to police procedurals, let’s dive into the best that Rockstar has to offer.
Even 10 years after release, Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online's player engagement has risen drastically compared to last year.
"The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword"
Really? I know it came to both gens but I would rather see Twilight Princess in their instead. SS felt like a step back for the franchise and got boring/repetitive after a while. It didn't have that charm other Zelda games did
"Rayman Origins"
Sorry but despite being a good game I wouldn't say it was a top game of this gen. Read Dead Redemption, Oblivion, Ni No Kuni, Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid 4, Borderlands, Assassins Creed 2
I could go on
I'd go with Wii Sports and Red Dead Redemption as both stand out as very unique and go into the category of UT99, BF1942, Alternate Reality, Cytron Masters, Seven Cities of Gold etc etc etc.
Most other games are just variants of titles past.
THE LAST OF US 15 minutes in, this game had me teary eyed already, that's when I knew "this is going to be something special".
When picking best games of the generation I think it's best to choose 1 genre defining game from each genre for variety.
e.g.
Open World - Red Dead Redemption
hack n' slash - God of War III
Action-RPG - Mass Effect 2
RPG - Skyrim
FPS - Bioshock
TPS - The Last of Us
Racing sim - Forza Motorsport 4
Racing arcade - PGR4
Side-scrolling platformer - LittleBigPlanet
3D platformer - Super Mario Galaxy
etc.
