UFC Makes Full Use of PS4,Dev Defends Against Claims That PS4/Xbox One Will Be Obsolete In Few Years

EA Sports UFC, the latest in the company's UFC series of video games, will release on the PS4 and Xbox One. It will utilize EA's next-gen exclusive Ignite Engine but will it take full advantage of the hardware it's arriving for, particularly the PS4? EA Canada creative director Brian Hayes says so.

You have a fighting game running at 30FPS. You most certainly did not make full use of the PS4.

It's not a regular fighting game Like tekken or street fighter . The public wont care for that kind of games about such issues . Or are we going to pretend we use frame traps in Fight Night and Ufc now ?

Wasn't there an article, from the same devs I believe, that stated; the difference between 30FPS, with motion blur IIRC, and 60FPS wasn't really much at all. If anything most people preffered the 30FPS variant.

If that's the case then why should the game run at 60FPS? Simply to claim it's 1080p and 60FPS? That's no good reason at all. In fact that'd be downright silly.

But I could be completely wrong in which case someone who knows more will just correct me.

Here is a classic example of devs being held to parity for the lowest common denominator. He says that they are making the fullest use of the PS4 hardware that they can????? That means that they are constrained by contracts to microsoft in keeping the ps4 version dumbed down as not to outshine the bone's release thus making microsoft's machine look worse than it already has in the past. The only time we're going to see the real power of the PS4 is with it's first party exclusive games that aren't constrained by the parity problem.

@mewhy - it seems so far that EA are content to do this parity thing at least to begin with. At least others are aiming for the best game they can reasonably make on the individual platform, instead of simply aiming for a very low bar for all.

Well, it's hard to defend what's already obsolete before launch. That's just the harsh truth of it, but that doesn't stop them from churning out exclusive games.

consoles never will be obsolete, the xbox360, ps3 are still very much used today. And there are tons of pc's more powerful than those consoles!

games like gta5 will make sure of that.

And how many games equal or comes close to GTA? I think you'd have a hard time finding one. Besides, Rockstar is just selling GTA with a clever scheme in mind, so they can make the most sales on each console / PC.

Fact is, if you put together a PC with all the latest kit, in a months time that will be obsolete as well. It's just the way tech works.

What makes PCs and consoles what they are is the services and the games.
Even on PCs the latest graphics card is going to take time for a game to come out that will take advantage of what it has to offer...even longer when it becomes main stream.

In that repect, console are just stepping in at the point where the hardware and software have converged at a good price.

The difference this gen, is that the cheaper option have been chosen for consoles.

The PS3 and 360 were on the beefy side when they launched, but that's not the case with PS4 and Xbone. If that's what we're gonna have for these 8 - 10 years, then we'll just get even more behind.

Even though PC's are constantly evolving, the hardware potential is far better on that side. Buying two previous cards for cheaper for example, will last you quite long as well.

I'm sorry but if you can't make a two player fighting game run at 60fps when games such as Battlefield 4 and Killzone: Shadow Falls multiplayer do, that isn't the console that's just awful and lazy devs.

The can make it run to 60fps, but they opted not to in oder to implement a heavy blur movement effect, possibly the xbone couldn´t handle both

Is it lazy or maybe a case that not every game has a 150 million+ budget to employ hundreds of 6-figure salary devs in AAA games such as BF4 and KZ. Think about it.

NO multiplat Publisher is gonna make a game that greatly looks better on one platform vs. the other excluding PC.

Did you NOT learn anything last Gen.

Multiplats will look very much the same on PS4/XB1 it's up to Exclusives to push the console.

LMAO they already did, it's called BATTLEFIELD 4, you know the game that has a Real Next Gen Game engine that the PS4 could only render in 900p to maintain the eye candy that the PC version has.

Sure BF4 PS4 can be done in 1080p but DICE would have to turn off some eye candy but that would make the PC version look even better in comparison videos.

Really a disagree lol look at battlefield 4/need 4 speed/all EA sports games next gen and all launch games and tell me ufc is a demanding game. 60 frames should be a cakewalk. VHS is obsolete. A console may have out dated tech, but that doesn't make them obsolete when the current gen have sold over 80million consoles EACH.

I'd just like to say, not all games NEED 60 fps. How about we judge games by looking at them and not in fps? NFS looks great on PS4- 30 fps.
