"If you're an American gamer who enjoys trading in games, chances are you've enrolled in Best Buy's Gamer Club Unlocked program and enjoy the numerous benefits. For only $15.00 a year, the program allows you %10 discount on all pre-owned purchases and %10 additional trade-in credit as part of the (arguably) worthwhile perks. The program is similar to GamesStop's trade-in program, but, given that Best Buy allows you to spend your store credit on any item online or in-store, the benefits of trading in there becomes far morr appartent. However, recent rumors of changes to the program (along with technical difficulties where no one has been able to renew a subscription for the month of October) have led to potential fears that the program is undergoing drastic changes. This morning, a moderator of the CheapAssGamer forum has unearthed some news concerning the program, and it's not looking like Best Buy is doing anything to assuage the fears of gamers."
Best Buy officially ends its Gamers Club Program as of Feb. 28th, 2021. While the company had stopped selling the membership, it was still honoring the discount but that ends next month.
We needed this program now more Than ever. I’m not paying $70 for a lot of these games coming out now.
If you were one of the lucky ones to get a Nintendo Switch for the holidays, well, congratulations, you’re in for a treat. Now that you have the console, it’s time to pimp out your newly-minted device with some much-needed accessories, and right now, Best Buy has a bunch of options 50% off.
Choose any two of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S game and get the third game of equal or lesser value for free
If true, this would be the third major phase of Gamers Club in the past three years:
2010 - program began, with some titles receiving up to $30 back in pre-ordering incentive.
Winter 2011 - $14.99 fee introduced, then a maximum of $20 back in pre-ordering credit.
Winter 2013 - $120 fee for two years, 20% off new titles, and $10 pre-order incentive.
Just an odd progression, and a program that I can't see many people willing to use.
