In the video an picture comparisons the XO version looks darker, sharper and it makes the textures pop more but it also causes a LOT more ailising than what you see in the softer textured PS4 version. There are very noticeable jaggies all over the XO version in every picture or video we see. Maybe that's why the PS4 is being considered as looking better, even though the X1 textures are more defined.

This reminds me a lot of current gen comparisons when PS3 games look softer and lighter than 360 games. It's like the exact same thing :/

PS4 version preserves more details in the shadows than the Xbox One version.
PS4 runs at a higher resolution.

the xbox one version seems to be a typical port...as many similar effects as possible, just at a lower resolution and reduction to AA...

the ps4 is different...it appears to have some sort of filter or something...the lighting is muted more so than the PC or xbox one, but not in a bad way...its just a different look, thats all...

maybe some settings on PC can do the same thing...the game defaulted to ultra for me, so i didn't mess with it...and its using the 4x MSAA, not the post-processed option...which could be the difference...

The Xbox version in the first image Riderz linked suffers from something called "black crush" and not something as simple as a color difference.

Black crush happens when the quality of the transfer from the source material is poor, resulting in areas where dark is too dark and greys are darker than it should be. The Xbox One lacks a way to correct this, so a bad port will look like a bad port, there's not many ways to hide it. Unless they add baked lighting to offset the black crush but in scenes or areas where there's no source of lights, (the image used takes place somewhere with no sunlight) it's going to look way darker than it should be.

In other words, the PS4 version is the better port from PC while the Xbox One version suffers a lot from porting the game into the system. Maybe that's why some developers praise the PS4 only when it comes to porting and you see PC games like PlanetSide 2 and Blacklight: Retribution being brought to the PS4 and not suffering graphically because of it. (Those 2 games are going to be run at max PC settings, stated in reports.)

If you say it's going to be slightly blurry but still look good then start accepting truth because DF also says the PS4 version of BF4 still looks better even if it's slightly blurry upscaled to 1080p. IMO i like the look of the PS4 but.....it looks to me that the XBO version at least in this video and screen capture is to dark. Like if you adjust the brightness etc it would improve it.

Apart from the increased resolution, there are definitely more than a few visual settings clicked a notch or two higher on the PS4 version.

If performance is on par for the two versions with PS4's graphical advantages this soon, future games are certain to demonstrate how significant the gap is.

Overall though, a casual player will just play the console where their friends are and their preferred exclusives.

The visuals aren't SO pronounced yet to, I think, convert any diehard singular-console adopter.

Both version are very similar to each other. Based on the videos posted and pics posted in the above comments, the Xbox One seems to have more realistic shadows and textures but it's not a huge difference. I agree with you though that gamers will ultimately choose what they want to play on.

Other than resolution, the Xbone version is missing clouds (Yes clouds, lol), Ambient Occlusion, and looks to have a weird amount of sharpen.

IMO it still looks pretty decent and is still playable. But man that's pretty disappointing a $500 system can barely hit the same resolution as the outgoing system. A cheap $90 graphics card and low-end PC can run circles around it at 720p resolution.

Yes well most PC gamers are fairly familiar with AO. There's HDAO on AMD cards, HBAO for Nvidia, and SSAO for both. I think Dice didn't include it on the X1 version to keep the performance at 60fps.

Check the vids on eurogamer. Steering wheels have orange dimple effect, the ps4 one not much.
Also the X1 has sharp writing and logos on the steering wheel itself, the dash and GPS. Where as the ps4s are slightly blurry (hence no jaggies (bullet in the foot?))

The PC & PS4 ver. looks similar, but the XO is dark, and textures are totally off. But I can say, they all "run" smooth.

I'm extremely happy also.

Not because future xbone owners are receiving an inferior BF4 port, but because I will be rightly receiving a superior BF4 version on the PS4, since it is the significantly more powerful console.

But the much much bigger impact this news has is that the MS and the xbone will not be holding back the entire generation for parity's sake, something I was extremely worried about.

If any publisher was going to be force their developers to dumb down the PS4 version of multiplats to be on par with the xbone it would have been EA, since they and MS have a heavy partnership deal. Since EA have allowed DICE to take advantage of the PS4 hardware, we can safely assume all developers are going to be rightfully releasing superior multiplat versions on the PS4. This is very excellent news.

It's confirmed. That dirty political 'parity' issue won't exist next gen. Future PS4 owners, you can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing that MS isn't (or at least don't have it within their power) going to ruin the next 8 years for you.

The difference is negligible, frame rate looks great, though and Both look very similar especially for having 720p on X1 and 900p on PS4.....

Looking on IGN...this link....both versions look GREAT!!!! Are there differences...yes...but they are so minor you cant go wrong with either console.

Do I wish it was 1080 native..Sure. But I guess the trade off (900/720) is to get it at 60FPS.

Exactly, when i also saw the Multiplayer on IGN. They were extremely minor details which showed PS4 as a better version. If the rumours of the eSRAM is true by end of next year maybe both consoles will have similar visuals and the difference will be similar to what was the PS3 VS 360.....

As for Xbox one being 720p vs 900p OF THE ps4, that is disappointing but it still looks incredible even though its being upscaled.

This my last pro Sony comment and then I'm back to being PC fanboy. If anybody still believes that Xbox version looks better then just compare it to PC. The PC, same as the PS4, also has a softer(realistic) looks to it and is much lighter than the Xbox One. Microsoft, EA and DICE intentionally spiked the gamma levels so as to crush the blacks. It's a great technique to disguise the ugly textures and jaggies present in the Xbox One version. It also fools the untrained eye into thinking that the image is sharper and lighting is better.

Another tidbit: This is only the beginning, Xbox One owners. The PS4 is already getting off to great start with in-your face graphical differences in next-gen titles. COD: Ghost, AC4 and Need for Speed: Rivals will soon follow the same path as BF4 did, with the PS4 having the superior console version. The real differences will come when the BIG 4: Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Sucker Punch and Guerrilla Games start pushing out truly next-gen titles for PS4. That's when the difference will be pretty much undeniable. Heck, KZ:SF is a rushed make-shift title pushing for launch and yet it is still beating the Xbox One version of BF4 to a pulp. Sooner or later, you're going to have to admit that your system is weaker...

Ps4 stacks up well against the best pc footage Ive seen. Still obviously PC is the way to go if you have a proper beast rig. Im not going to wait for R9 290x's to rain from the sky so its ps4 version for me. as my crappy laptop isnt going to do this game any justice.

Heard the average player get about 7 hours from the campaign so I think Im going to pick it up. Im more a SP person, but the mp looks fun too. Really itching to play Shadow fall MP though...

To me, it definitely looks like a port from PC/XB1 over to PS4. Reason I say that is that some textures are exactly the same for two D3D versions, yet the PS4 is different. The camo is a good example. The XB1 has the same camo as the PC version, yet the PS4 has something totally different. Almost like they forgot what it was supposed to look like when recoding it for the PS4 API. Probably more a part of why they look different than the hardware inside.

Either way, there's pros and cons of both next-gen versions and both are entirely playable while looking great. When EA and other companies get more experience with these consoles, I imagine we'll be seeing some remarkable looking games.

Higher contrast doesn't make it a better looking in the second one XB1 is to dark whilst it makes the steering wheel look better the rest of the dash is way to dark.For the PS4 the second ond is more natural looking and you can actually see the display between the dials.

Well my xbox pre order is looking even better - I watched all the footage and can honestly say the xbox one looks amazing. Ps4 is also good - a few variations but they looks equally closer to the PC version than I thought and these are day one games. The potential is outstanding for both consoles. There are differences for sure. But here is the thing that no one is really talking about...how they look almost on PAR with there PC counterparts!!!

Now we wont really know until the games release on next gen if there are any other issues. Such as playing online. Linking up with friends online. Bugs in SP and MP.

I have been putting allot of time into researching building a gaming PC. Mainly it was to play games like BF4 etc. But I can honestly say after seeing jackfrags PS4 MP video...I may hold off.

Check the fps comparison too, the ps4 holds better frames at double the Rez so ps4 is obviously more powerful and capable of doing more, they even remove particles in the explosions for the xbone to help the fps yet it still drops lower. Superior version is subjective. They both have a certain look to them that may be more appealing to different people.

I myself feel they are close. I do like the slightly blurred look of the PS4. The sharpness of the XBO version could be manipulated via your tv settings. The jaggies...XBO has more.

As far as being stuck with the XBONE. Me myself..I decided awhile ago to go with the XBO and a PS4 down the road...or may go the PC route.

When im playing BF4 on the XBO im not even going to be thinking about the PS4 version. It comes down to preference. If someone has BOTH systems....I or you cant simply say...you have to get the PS4 version because you or I feel the PS4 version is superior.

Allot of people actually go to the system they have more friends on. Last GEN I gamed a ton on both systems. MAG, BFBC2 I played a hell of a lot on PS3 with a crew of people I was friends with.

On the 360 I played allot of BF3 with some dudes from the UK (im in the US east coast) The thing is...when I wa splaying on either console ..not ONCE did I think...."Hmm I wonder if the other version on the other system looks better" ...I just played with my friends and had a blast.

You feel the PS4 version is superior....so go buy it for the PS4. No one is saying the XBO version is superior....they are saying that the differences are not enough to make that switch.

Here's a tidbit, some of the people making these comparisons are using "found footage" and they don't have access to final hardware. I'm not going to say who. Figure it out for yourselves.

After a generation of 5 % pixel differences, less AA And 2 fps average lower on Ps3 vs 360 meaning PS3 is shite, I'm utterly perplexed by a genuinely technical gap being glossed over. It seems the art of self delusion is in full effect. Thing is, say you can't see a difference because you can't see the tricks used, or understand it. Bear in mind what it actually means for pixel pushing power. The gap is looking larger than some would have you believe. More than PS3 / 360 but this time PS4 wins both ease of use AND power.

These comparisons were done with dev kits and not on the final build. DICE also confirmed that there would be texture packs similar to BF3 on consoles (can't find the link but it's the interview in what seems to be a restaurant with a weird picture behind them). Now, with the jaggies. They are on the PS4 as well, it's just the softer appearance makes them less noticeable or it could be XB1's darker colors that exaggerate the jaggies. Either way both versions look good. I
