Like with most works of pop-culture; a video game will have a story that borrows elements from one work as a tribute to its influence or acknowledge that its a modern retelling of a classic story. Than you have games that pretty much rip-off another work and try to pass it off as their own original content. Here are 5 games with stories that ripped off other great works.
MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.
MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.
That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.
I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.
Following the Wii U and 3DS servers being taken offline, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Ghosts are officially dead.
Call of Duty players are jumping into Black Ops 2 for the final time before its Wii U servers go offline for good.
All these games listed here and the evidence to me didn't seem like a rip-off at all. Seemed like there is just as many differences as their are similiarities to be labeled as such.
Where is Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta?
I realised back in halo 3 that the series borrows heavily from the bible (Flood, Arc, Reclamer, etc). Call of duty's were nearly always ripping over a popular war film: CoD = Band of Brothers, CoD2 = Enemy at the gates. I'm not sure of the exact circumstances, but I believe Spielberg was involved in MoH Allied Assault, which would explain why it nearly perfectly follows the story of Saving Private Ryan.
Ever heard the expression; "there is nothing new under the sun" ?
Lol, those are some strange comparison. Not the ones I would've thought of, that's for sure.
I'm pretty sure that Far Cry 3 is most similar to the movie The Beach, lmao not Avatar... WTF
