I will buy the Wii U deluxe when it hits $150. That's my "buy" price for that, and I can wait a very long time.

No, now it's "You better go to that Cinnabon in Nebraska and find the new manager named Jose." The one with the mustache. (I implore you people, Give me more bubbles! I used to have many more, but then I quit the meth business).

PS4isKing_823868d ago

Even tho starting now and next year it's getting some very good games. Most of Nintendo's big franchises are beginning to hit with more next year. Especially Mario kart 8, smash bros., bayonetta 2, and several more.

Gamer19823868d ago (Edited 3868d ago )

The downfall is next year the big boys are gonna be around and if the WiiU was under $200 it could compete the fact its not its gonna struggle. The wii did so well even though it looked like a PS2 as it was half the price of a PS3 and 360.

Magicite3868d ago

Nintendo is existing only thanks to sequels/spin-offs/remakes. There almost no new IPs and weak 3rd party support.

Feralkitsune3868d ago

Nintendo doesn't really have to compete for 3rd party developers or anything. They an stay alive just by the pure fact that their first party games are amazing and focus on Gameplay, not being shiny. I can see my self having a nintendo console each gen along with my PC and getting more than my moneys worth.

The N64 was amazing, the Gamecube was amazing, the Wii had some good games, and I'm already seeing quite a few good games on WiiU. More than on the other two consoles at this point since most of those games I can play on my PC in amazing quality.

clouds53868d ago

Yeah i get that. That's about the price I would pay for XB1 and PS4, same thing for PS3 and 360. I'm thinking about getting a ps3 or 360 used when the xb1/ps4 have been released.

That's how it is, when you have other systems that you prefer...

Magicite3868d ago

Not sure if thats even realistic price point for next-gen console.

AJBACK2FRAG3867d ago

The space ship in Pikmin3 looks like a Metroid!!!!!!

meganick3867d ago

You'll be waiting about 4 or 5 years before it hits that price, at least brand new.

What I find funny about this, is that people are actually talking about Nintendo going 3rd party in the future.

And they do that right after Nintendo has released THREE systems that are outselling everything. No matter how great a sony or microsoft fanboy you are, the Wii was the best selling console in its generation. And on top of that, Nintendo OWNS the handheld sector. The DS and now the 3DS are selling like crazy.
The WiiU of course is just getting started. You can never judge the sales of a system by looking at its first year (as seen with ps3, 3DS etc.).

What people really should be thinking: When is Sony going 3rd party? If the PS4 isnt a huge success, that is a possibility imho. PS3 sold alot in the last 1-2 years. But for a VERY long time they were selling the console at a loss. I don't know the numbers but I'd say overall the PS3 was a financial failure. And then of course the Vita...

We have one company that had 3 HUGE successes, and we have a company that had 2 failures. Makes sense that the one with the successes would go 3rd party yeah?

I dont really care btw. I'm mainly a PC gamer but I have consoles from all companies. If you ask me - all companies should go 3rd party, because then I can play all the games with better graphics and the controller I prefer on my PC.

thehobbyist3868d ago

You can't call the WiiU a success when most weeks it's being outsold by the VITA. Sony was never selling the PS3 at a loss they just were selling so few it was affecting the bottom line. And if the PS3 was such a financial failure why is no one saying it is? Oh right, because after the cheaper slim model came out it got a massive install base. And a true success story has points of failure in it. So after all this you're talking 2 Nintendo successes and a failure versus 2 Sony successes and a failure. Because oh hey! The PSP still exists and it's STILL getting games in Japan. STILL being manufactured. Hell, my local target just sold it's very last PSP a few months ago and still has a few games for it sitting out.
Sony's never going third party because they're successful, all first-party Sony games sell quite well and are often system selling games. And everyone shouldn't go third party PC because consoles are an affordable way for people to play video games. I'd rather pay $200+$40 for a 3ds XL and game versus $600+ and $20+ for a gaming PC and a game.

clouds53868d ago

I wasnt talking about the wii u, i was talking about the DS, the Wii and the 3DS.
And I wasn't trying to bash Sony I was making a point that its ridiculous to think Nintendo would go 3rd party anytime soon. Apart from the slow WiiU/3DS start they have nothing but success. And slow launches that's pretty much normal. The crazy Wii launch is the exception.

Now about the 3rd everything scenario, lets not confuse handhelds with full consoles. Because of course handhelds are smaller, cheaper but also a different market.
But think about it. You'd rather buy 3 different systems for 300-500$ with different accessories, instead of having one PC for 600-700$ that plays everything?

Gemmol3867d ago

research is all over the web come on man do not be blind that man wrote a lot of sense.....and I have a ps3....it was sold for a lost even when it was 600.....sony lost so much money I did not think ps4 was possible but after seeing they take pc off the shelf parts it make sense why the system cheaper......now developers wont have a hard time getting the best graphics from it like they did the ps3.....instead with ps4 in its 3rd year graphics will stay the same until ps5 come out

TheDivine3868d ago

People were hoping the WiiU would be Nintendo's return to the SNES eras level of awesomeness but the 3ds has already arrived. It has the best library a systems ever had this early in its life. This year alone had Fire Emblem, SMT, Luigis Mansion, Project X Zone, Rune Factory 4, Soul Hackers, Etrian Odyssey 4 and Untold, Pokemon, Zelda, Bravely Default, Donkey Kong, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, Animal Cossing and a dozen other big titles. I'm broke as hell recently because of the release schedule, so many great games so close together.

Now with the 3ds xl as a premium model and the 2ds which is a budget system for people who may want one or two games like the new Zelda or Pokemon there's no reason not to own one. It may not be the most powerful system but its got games for days.

schlanz3867d ago

Man I love the 3DS, glad it's selling well. Hope it ends up having as epic a library as the DS.

Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform

H96h ago

Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal

OtterX36m ago

That is some serious brain gymnastics you have going on there. 🤔

I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.

Relientk773h ago

Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."

You can't make this crap up lol

Profchaos1h ago

Mortal Kombat 1 was never going to port well I'm sure they told wb it wasn't going to work but wb wants that sweet sweet 140 million install base

In the end wb approved the project cleared the milestones and allowed the product to release

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

RiseNShine17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno16d ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.
