You take the role of Mondo Zappa, an executioner and something of ladies man, hence the Bond reference. Mondo works for the Bryan Execution Firm, led by a rather large Cyborg called Bryan, who dishes out government sanctioned contracts on various killers. As Mondo, you then travel to some rather bizarre dwellings to take out these monsters so that you can declare “Killer is Dead” and take your earnings.
The money earned is then spent on romantic gifts, like perfumes and flowers, to help our man seduce the various “beauties” of the world. This is, without question, the most bizarre and awkward side quest you are likely to see in a video-game, as you alternate between the main Assassin story missions and the Gigolo side quests.
Killer is Dead arrived a decade ago, and despite not receiving a sequel stands-up as a unique work from SUDA 51.
Goichi Suda (Aka Suda 51) is a peerless developer, renowned for the making of some of the most unique games. Here are the best ones to date.
Peerless?
I’ve always heard his games have repetitive portions. I appreciate unique and creative games, but repetition dilutes even the greatest games (ie Arkham Asylum).
Shadows of the damned was pretty wild. That and lollipop chainsaw are the only ones ive played but I’d give it to SoTD.
During a panel at Momocon, Grasshopper Manufacture founder Goichi "Suda51" Suda talked about possible Switch ports of his games.
He should. Although I'd like to see something new from him. Or how about Shadows of the Damned 2?
I loved this game. The combat was a little wonky but the insane story and action more than made up for it.
A little too short also, would have loved to see more levels added. I really hope this game does well because I really want a sequel.
Especially the way it ended, a sequel is needed.
Game was great and the bosses were trippy! Had more fun with this and thought it was much more unique and entertaining than that boring TLOU! Came with an awesome soundtrack and very nice hard cover artbook too!
Its too bad a game like this doesnt get the recognition it deserves because it is overshadowed by big name game companies! Its the same thing with bands!
