I know since hl ep 2 that they pushed 3 to next gen consoles. Valve wants a powerful game without compromises.

Yodagamer3860d ago (Edited 3860d ago )

I'm sure we might get some ports on current gen hardware if they are relevant when it comes out. If rumors are true they'll be using a new source engine. The original was very scale able and i'd think they'd continue that with source 2.

-Superman-3860d ago

Can´t wait Left 4 Dead 3. L4D2 is my favorite CO-OP Versus Zombie game of all time :)

Also, can´t wait Half Life 3, dramatic ending HL2 EP2

Kurylo3d3860d ago

yea l4d2 versus mode is awesome... people vs people controlled monsters. :P

DestinyHeroDoomlord3860d ago

Why not just make it for pc then?

Plyzz3860d ago

Why would they reveal the names of the developer's names... Now these guys will get harrased untill the game releases ,_,

Abriael3860d ago

Which is why the emails (that were also on the leaked site) have been omitted. The names can be found on the credits of most valve games.

Plyzz3860d ago

O I see, thanks :) But I'd say they still shouldn't give up names like these.. Can't be major detective work to locate them on the internet.

Jovanian 3860d ago

'Kelly Bailey'

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSS

THIS GUY IS THE BEST SOUNDTRACK MAKER AND SOUND EFFECT MAKER. THANK GABEN HES BACK!!!!!!!

-Superman-3860d ago

Kelly Bailey made:

Half-Life (1998)
Half-Life 2 (2004)
Half-Life 2: Episode One (2006)
Portal (2007)
Half-Life 2: Episode Two (2007)

Abriael3860d ago (Edited 3860d ago )

I don't see any contact information. Care to point out where it is?

And you may be a very peculiar Q&A developer (if you're ever been one), considering how much developers are normally upset when their names are not included in the *publicly available* credits of a game.

edit: nice ninja edit :D

Axonometri3860d ago (Edited 3860d ago )

Calm yourself. Credits are a completely different issue. I never accused you of anything. Having your "name" in credits is obviously something every developer wants. Having your name and contact info available online during or post development is not something most would want. You disagree with that?

I could care less what your opinion of my status in the industry. I did, however, state I had been on that side... which usually depicts a former status.

3860d ago
Axonometri3860d ago

Same for you Nasim_
The site allows a user to edit a post. If that is a problem for you, take it up with the host. I post an opinion and get attacked. That makes your post more valid than mine I guess.

I am moving on...

Abriael3860d ago (Edited 3860d ago )

@Axonometri: the name is not a problem, as you can find their names on the credits of multiple valve games.

You don't work in this industry if you don't want your name out there. It's that simple.

Contact info would be a problem, which is why they have been omitted by all sources that reported this info, so I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.

Mind you, most of those names are out there in the open right on Valve Software's website.
http://www.valvesoftware.co...

So much for that.

This article is seriously dumb. Holy Dualshockers spam, everyone. It's like they only get traffic from N4G.

Abriael3860d ago (Edited 3860d ago )

Someone's mad. But of course some people can only spew personal attacks without adding anything to the discussion.

Report: Left 4 Dead 3 Reference Spotted in Counter-Strike 2 Files

A Left 4 Dead 3 reference was spotted in the files of the Counter-Strike 2 closed beta, suggesting that the title may finally be in development.

Number1TailzFan396d ago

Not the first time it's been referenced. Valve said years ago that it wasn't in development, but of course things change. L4D3 was supposedly almost finished at one point but development stopped because Source 2 was still incomplete.

Most of the time you get people saying a third game isn't needed as there's nothing to improve upon anyways, which is complete nonsense. I have to wonder if those that say such things have junk computers or something. Why they'd want to keep playing the same repetitive thing over and over is beyond me.

ElendilsSorrow395d ago

I'm honestly curious too as to whether the entry in the code means something or not, considering April 1's only a couple days away, and Valve knows people are datamining for this stuff now. But at the same time, the CS2 driver update entry meant nothing too, until it suddenly did. No telling with GabeN and co. really.

-Foxtrot395d ago

I do hope Zoe, Francis and Louis come back

cammers1995394d ago

Based on the last two games, it'll likely be four new survivors but past will cameo.

-Foxtrot394d ago

I guess, but I can dream

I just think they were did dirty with the lack of support or content that game got compared to what was promised...them BOOM, L4D2 was announced months later

JEECE395d ago

That would be nice, B4B was such disappointing trash.

JEECE394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

Tons of reasons, but I'll just mention a few.
1) L4D2 feels like a PC shooter in terms of aim speed, movement speed, etc. Even when playing on PC, B4B evidently feels like a slower experience designed for console first. Obviously this is nice for console players, but L4D is a pc-focused series, so if you market your game as a successor, I expect it to feel like it's designed for PC.
2) The AI of the standard zombies (or whatever you call them) is lower. Again, this feels like a compensation for console players.
3) The special enemies on L4D2 are a lot more varied and interesting; in B4B they are just kind of big things you shoot a lot.
4) The world in L4D2 feels more real (not factual but real in the context of the game). When hordes rush you, it feels like they are coming from a specific direction in the distance. In B4B they just spawn in a monster closet in the building beside you. Similarly the special enemies in L4D2 feel like they are in the world, while in B4B they just literally materialize near you. Like there's nothing in B4B that matches taking on a witch that's in your path; the big "moments" in that game are usually just some super generic big thing materializing near you.
5) B4B added basically every bad component of modern multiplayer games geared toward casuals. There's an unnecessary hub world, an unnecessary loot system, an unnecessary operater/hero system where you pick a character with abilities and you level those through cards you buy with loot, and upgrade skins, etc. What makes L4D2 great is that it's a great co-op experience that doesn't have a ton of unnecessary tacked on RPG lite live service features as barriers to fun with friends; as soon as I started playing B4B I had a friend telling me I needed to focus on a specific hero and level them with certain cards. If I want that crap I'd play Destiny 2.

Demetrius395d ago

If they do comeback with this series don’t force no strictly online bs to us mane

Michiel1989395d ago

won't be an issue for me since I never liked playing with bots in L4D2, but I still agree

Details of Multiple Cancelled Valve Projects Revealed, Including Half-Life 3

A new Half-Life making-of has revealed details about cancelled Valve projects, including Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, a Dark Souls-inspired RPG, and more.

moongrim1388d ago

wait so I have to pay Steam money for this "Video" and Epic Games are the ones who are greedy? FOH

kitano19471387d ago

its an interactive storybook, written by Geoff Keighley, why should it be free? hes worked on reporting valve games since before half life 1 released.

Open world L4D game?

I'm curious

I'd love to see Zoe, Francis and Louis come back, or maybe Bill if they pretend the cross over with L4D2 never happened and they went North to Canada.

Knightofelemia1388d ago

Shame about L4D3 I would have bought that day one

FlyingFoxy1387d ago

Same, tho interestingly if you check the steam database page you can see L4D2 is being updated frequently, just not publicly, seems they are up to something.

Also we can look forward to B4B trailers etc soon so we have another game that might be similar.

MadLad1387d ago

Damn I want more Half-Life and L4D..
Half-Life would be less jarring if it didn't end on such a cliff hanger.

Hard to believe that was all the way back in 2007.

Fist4achin1387d ago (Edited 1387d ago )

Wow, great plans all flushed down the toilet. These probably would have all sold well too. A fan in me no more of valve.

Valve Elaborates On Early Left 4 Dead 3 Rumors, Portal VR Ideas

Valve's Robin Walker elaborates on the rumored Left 4 Dead 3, Portal VR, and a whole lot more in this month's IGN Unfiltered.

-Foxtrot1496d ago

If they are going to do more VR stuff, I prey it's not exclusive stuff

No one wants VR exclusive Portal, L4D stuff, give us the option and let everyone play, especially with how long we've all been waiting for new instalments to these games.

Fishy Fingers1496d ago (Edited 1496d ago )

Whats exclusive about Alyx? Its supports all the PC VR headsets. I'm sure if PS4 was capable, you'd see it there too. Shouldnt be an issue with next gen coming.

-Foxtrot1495d ago

I just want a standard version I can play with a controller

With REVII you had the option it was built up for both standard play and VR

porkChop1495d ago

It's exclusive to VR, which is niche. That's pretty exclusive. A lot of people just don't have any interest in VR.

xTonyMontana1495d ago

@Foxtrot Playing with a controller would defeat the purpose of this game. I hope it comes to PS5 though, it's amazing and it's the system/peripheral seller VR needs to go mainstream.

xenz1495d ago

Valve makes their own vr hw, and somehow you expect them to release a non-vr fps game after the success of Alyx? They want to evolve vr.. ofc its gonna be only VR

1495d ago
--bienio--1495d ago

Hahah not long ago PlayStation fanboys crying about HDZ coming to Pc and Now this? Hypocrites!!

pwnmaster30001495d ago

Which PS4 fanboy is crying? I don’t see no crying lol.

If your talking about fox, he said no exclusive VR.

SamPao1495d ago

yeah man. you need to realise that a very small amount of people do not represent the ps community as a whole. same for every community

BlackIceJoe1496d ago

I'd like to see a new Counter Strike, that has a story mode and is inspired by SOCOM or SWAT. The world could use more tactical shooters and Valve could do a phenomenal job with this series, if they take it in this direction.

xenz1495d ago

I love SP shooters, but CS is not made for SP. Why waste resources on something the userbase wont play?

xTonyMontana1495d ago

I would play the SP and I played 1.6 religiously back in the day. Granted it would be a single play through and all my time would be going into the MP, I'd still be very interested in a single player VR game.

battlegrog1495d ago

That would be amazing bit un likely to ever happen

Knightofelemia1495d ago

I just want L4D3 they popped out L4D2 pretty fast after the first game and now they are dragging their feet. I know L4D3 would be a day one for me the series is my favorite shooter and I don't like many shooters.

porkChop1495d ago

I just hope that when we do get another L4D it feels like a proper sequel. As good as L4D2 was, it just felt like DLC. And considering it was developed and released within 9 months, it pretty much *was* DLC.

FlyingFoxy1495d ago

Agreed, i would say L4D2 itself pretty much could've been DLC.. though i will say that the new stuff they added made a big difference to longevity, the extra special infected were much needed. It got boring fighting smokers, boomers and hunters over and over, the spitter, charger and jockey were good additions.. though the jockey is a right PITA as it seems to teleport jump and latch onto your head at times.

After playing tons of L4D2 i could already see where they could improve the game to almost no end, for example there's signs in the swamps saying do not feed the gators, but no gators.. there could be more weapons, weather effects, day/night cycles, extra shortcuts, more randomisation of item/enemy placement, extra escape routes, few new types of special infected.. i could go on. But more additions = more replayability, i think you get the picture.

At least there's Back 4 Blood from Turtle Rock while we wait for a possible new L4D, and they're already doing motion capture for it, so hope we get to see stuff about it soon. Just hope it's got the L4D vibe.

xTonyMontana1495d ago

Portal VR? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

AK911495d ago

I don't think Portal VR is a good idea considering what you do in those game I'm pretty sure I'd be puking all over the place.

porkChop1495d ago

I think it could potentially work, but it would need to be without the momentum-based puzzles. The fast speed would probably make people sick. Or they could go back to the original Portal 2 concept of using time travel instead of portals.

AK911495d ago

Hmm hadn't thought of it that way, if it was done without moving all across the map and changing directions constantly I think it could work.
