New EverQuest Next and Landmark Gameplay Videos Show Heroic Movement and Timelapse Building

Sony Online Entertainment just released two new gameplay videos of EveryQuest Next and of its world-building spin-off EverQuest Next Landmark, the first shows the game’s “heroic movement” that will basically turn characters into parkour professionals, able to jump around and over obstacles instead of just walking like losers.

The second video shows what you can build in about 50 minutes in EverQuest Next Landmark, basically from a barren landscape into a terraformed lava-themed environment.

This game is looking awesome. I have to admit I'm jealous that it won't come to X1. Although I don't think it has been announced for the PS4 either. But it probably will, sooner or later its a Sony IP.
I guess this will be the only game I play on PC.

Yeah it should be getting a lot more hype than it is right now, Everquest one was great. PC it is for me.

There is a similar game to this called Black Desert.

They are considering a X1 and PS4 version.
It also has free-running.

Scratch that, Black Desert is actually assassins creed style parkour!

It is really looking great so far. Wish there was some info on Epic weapons though. Seems like they have everything else moving in the right direction. Would love to see them make Class Specific Epics that scale with you as you level. Those old EQ epic quest lines were a lot of time and hard work. The end result should be the very best weapon for your class...scaling up as you level would be a nice way to ensure it stayed that way.

Dvinn trains were the worst.

Its bad enough when you're high level and all (possibly losing gear SUCKED) but constantly running back and forth when trying to level was a pain. You could spend days there just trying to regain your lost experience ;)

I had a blast though trying to hold the line with people though back in the day.

EQ was one of the best and most frustrating gaming experiences I've ever had.

Perfect! Making it fun to traverse is always good.

I agree when it comes to The Sims Online. That game was really fun and nothing has even come close to it. I still crave a new Sims with online multiplayer. Blows my mind they haven't done anything like that since The Sims Online or even The Sims Bustin' Out on PS2.

The Lesson Behind the Fall of Everquest Next

EverQuest Next was cancelled last month almost as an afterthought in a blog post by Daybreak president Russell Shanks, to the surprise of no-one. What is surprising, however, is the strange malaise that led to it and the hopeful solution.
