An Hour With The Dark Souls II Beta | Siliconera

Siliconera: "As my session with the Dark Souls II beta began, I was filled with a sense of dread. Not because of any dangerous enemy or grisly sight ahead of me, but because before this session I’d never played Dark Souls."

From what I've seen so far, the game is taking a series of good decisions.
punish deaths when in the form of hollow, representing the loss of humanity, rewarding players that put messages with "good rate," work more with "lore" and directions about the "correct path to follow" b (in my opinion, this is the weakest point of dark souls! lose yourself in the game is extremely easy for most people! the story is good and has a lot of potential, but many things are not well explored, it is almost like watching a lake of dark background, imagine that it is deep, but find that it simply had dark sand on the bottom ...

Anyway I love dark souls, and dare I even put it above skyrim! if the game can improve the "Lore" (exploring the history of the characters, legends that bind the secrets of the game and more items that reveal truths about the game) and progression is best explained (especially the point about "what paths I have option to follow to progress with the game ") I guess dark souls has everything to evolve for the better and not lose the challenge that makes the series so appealing.

No, he meant health. Here's what he means. From Software already explained that the health items no longer immediately give you your health.

Instead, when you use one, it gradually fills up your health until it reaches the amount it's supposed to fill.

If you get hit before it finishes, it will still continue to replenish up to the amount it was supposed to depending on the item.

I just hope it has proper M&K controls this time around...

BiggCMan3878d ago

I'm sure they will make the controls better for PC. Even so, I still rather play this game with a controller, it just feels necessary. I can play lots of games with my keyboard and mouse on PC, but some just have to be played with a controller for me.

Hidetaka Miyazaki claims Dark Souls 2 “carried” the series forward

The game isn't good though.

DS2 was fine. While there was a bit of recycling assets or ideas for bosses, it was a bigger more open Dark Souls. The Fume knight boss is one of the hardest bosses in the series until Sekiro and Elden Ring were released.

CrimsonWing6975d ago

The problem with Dark Souls 2 was the same problem when a different director takes over for a sequel to an outstanding movie. It typically (there are exceptions) doesn’t have the feel and vision of the previous movie.

I wouldn’t say Dark Souls 2 is terrible. Had Dark Souls 1 never been a thing and we got this, I think it would have been praised more. The problem is it didn’t have the Miyazaki touch to it and felt pretty derivative. The soundtrack is a banger though.

And it will happen in the future when he doesn’t touch them as he is planning on.

MrBaskerville75d ago

I like DS 2, might even be my favorite of the 3. But it's a hard sell, there's so many obscure things you need to do to make it an enjoyable experience. So always find it hard to recommend, but it is worth the trouble.

All the bosses are only from Dark Souls. No Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, or Demon Souls
