Real time damage system? Are you sure? Can you be specific? Do you mean real-time physics based deformation?

To my knowledge, Forza has always had damage where it changes models regardless of the angle of impact, the velocity and the force applied to the relative speed.

IMO, the colors are a little bit to colorful, it takes away from the realism to me. Also, every Forza I have played I feel as if the car is floating just above the track.

ebreda3878d ago

Most importantly: cars can now actually fail from damage. That's something I really didn't know until now. Consider me officialy excited for online leagues.

otherZinc3878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

@ebreda,

Your car could fail from great impacts in Forza 3 & 4. You slam into a wall you're done or your car will be slowed and smoking.

Also, your car could pull left or right depending on how great the impact.
Also, if you get hit hard enough to lose a wing at the rear of your car, you'll no longer have great control.

Forza 5 is just going to be THAT much greater in every way.
This will be my 5th Forza game.

Day 1.

I myself am a huge fan of Forza and will be the first to tell you, although a blast to play on my rig, it's not a true hardcore sim. But you asked for proof and not an opinion so here a link for you to read.

Greetings Brutally,

I am curious, do you get that "floaty" feel when driving cars in Forza? For me, the car feels slightly detached to the road, as if the weight of the car is not really there. It becomes very evident to me especially on turns where the car feels as if it is a cross between sliding on ice and floating. It is this detached feel of the car to the road that is my biggest complaint about the Forza series.

The sense of speed seems a little off to me as well. Yes, I am a GT fan, and have been since I played the crap out of the Japanese version on the PSX many years ago. IMO, one of the best aspects of the GT series is how the car really feels like it is on the road, shifting its weight against the road, fighting against the momentum that the car has. It is especially evident when I use a wheel.

Since you are a Forza fan, I would really appreciate your opinions on my comments.

"floaty"

I have used that very term before while discussing Forza with my friends and on racing forums with others. That's the best description of how Forza feels. Especially when compared directly to the GT series.

Which is most likely why the controls are tighter with my wheel on GT as opposed to Forza. I set my wheel to default 900 degrees on GT and I'm good to go. When I play Forza I tweak my resolution depending on the vehicle class. The FFB on Forza doesn't feel as good as GT either. The problem though is Turn 10 doesn't put a lot of emphasis into wheel users. They feel its roughly 5% of their consumer base so time is better spent in other aspects like Vista mode. "I couldn't disagree with them more."

I have a lot of fun playing Forza, IMHO it's more accessible than the GT series, but if I want to get some serious hardcore driving in, I power up my PS3 and take GT out of the garage.

I am looking forward to see how Forza 5 turns out but as of now I'm not getting it. I need to know that there will be a wheel worthy of my rig and preferences (clutch pedal & stand alone 6+1 shifter) and that F5 is actually more than just a prettier wrapper over previous installments.

I'm one of the few that want them to expand this franchise with weather and variable surfaces. I'm starting to think that's never going to happen.

"The problem though is Turn 10 doesn't put a lot of emphasis into wheel users. They feel its roughly 5% of their consumer base so time is better spent in other aspects like Vista mode. "I couldn't disagree with them more.""

Which is fine, however it is unrealistic for reviewers to view this game as a sim racer, when this glaring fact is ignored. GT is designed to work with the wheel, the controller is not the primary focus. Though even with a controller I still feel as though the cars are more realistic in the way they handle in GT.

Yes, that "floaty" feel I just cannot get past. Thank you for your response, I very much appreciate it. I enjoy learning from other points of view, and when you said you are a Forza fan, I figured that you would be a good person to learn from and perhaps understand what I mean when I say "floaty" which of course you did.

I am curious, are you getting an xbone or a ps4?

P0werVR3878d ago

It doesn't take away the fact that Forza is a BLAST when driving the cars. Floaty? meh, not an issue. It has a level of sim, there is no doubt just more enjoyable IMO.

Boody-Bandit3878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

PS4 day one.

I am a wait and see on the XBOX ONE. I have no use for Kinect so I'm not shelling out an extra $100 dollars to get something that will remain in the box. That and the fact I don't know if Thrustmasters new TX 458 wheel will have a clutch pedal and a stand alone shifter. I cant bring myself to play Forza without a clutch and stand alone shifter. Not going to happen.

It's bad enough Forza 5 wont support triple panels like current and previous version do / did. I'm not taken 2 steps back and doing with a clutch and shifter as well. I'm hoping by the time Forza 6 is released Turn 10 will have triple panel support again and Fanatec will have a killer wheel combo compatible with the XBOX ONE. By then, maybe, I will own one.

clae13878d ago

Not a HARDCORE SIM racer but it is still a simulator if you read the interview. That being said no console racer is really a hardcore sim, these games, GT and Forza lack the features found in pc sims. Question is which game has better driving physics? But that is debatable, because no one has ever really driven all these cars to give an accurate opinion. Some say Forza feels floaty (opinion), Gt is too twitchy (opinion) ect. Funny thing is most of the gamers who say these things don't even have a licence or drive in real life.

Looking back to 2014 and Forza Motorsport 5 Racing GOTY Edition

Carlos writes - "When it was time for Forza 5 to rock on up to the track, we were just entering the third generation of Xbox consoles, and to show off all that extra horsepower that would come inside the Xbox One, they wanted a flagship title that could truly showcase just what miracles the next generation could perform. And what better title than Microsoft’s beloved racer!"

Such s supreme racing title. Hands down racing franchise of recent decades. Nothing has come close in quality or ratings.

bluefox7551746d ago

Not to mention the worst rated game in the series.

mijayire1746d ago

Apart from Forza 5. Talking about generally the Forza series has always been rated high. Perhaps Forza 5 was rushed for launch. Although made up again by Forza 6 and 7.

IRetrouk1746d ago

I liked the game well enough, it was a good starting point for the new gen and helped them build up to what motorsport 7 is now, the controversies wasnt with the numbers of cars or tracks though, it was more to do with the pc footage being passed off as xbox one, the downgrade from what they originally had shown caused more upset than the numbers.

Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for September 2017 any good?

James writes - "So here we are with a new month about to begin, and we all know by now that means a number of new games are about to be gifted to all Xbox One and Xbox 360 players via the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for September2017. The free games of last month were passable if truth be told, but can September’s offerings make it a month to remember, or one to skip over?"

Well...lets see. So FM5 is 2013's Racer of the Year, while Oxenfree was nominated and won all types of awards as an indie game in 2016. On the BC side, both games are classics.
