Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has explained that Tekken X Street Fighter, the long awaited pairing of Namco and Capcom's flagship fighter series, is still in the works, and that the game is a 'long term' project.

So Ono wasn't joking all this time? I thought he was being sarcastic about the game being released in 2020, but I could understand the challenges they are having. I personally think they shouldn't quit even if takes some time. The reason why I'm excited about this game is solely for the art direction. I feel that Tekken team has improved drastically when it comes down to making their characters look good, so I really can't wait to see how Chun Li turns out. Seeing how Harada has a lot of respect for the Street Fighter series, I guess the project will turn out good. As for now, we can only dream......

Harass is working on, Tekken 7, TK:R, and New Tekken coming to Arcade, He's also doing Smash Brothers U... At this rate To X SF isn't coming till 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Two!

I am very curious on how they will do a lot of the Capcom characters that rely so heavy on projectiles/zoning. Tekken is such a in your face, crucial timing and juggle heavy game that shoto's won't seem to have a chance. Not to mention the steeping to the right or left to dodge any projectile will make it hard for shoto's.

We'll see.

Sevir3904d ago

That's what I'm saying. It'll be interesting to say the least

-Gespenst-3904d ago

I find it hard to imagine projectiles in a Tekken game, which is what this is kind of supposed to be. SF X T was a Street Fighter game basically, this is a Tekken game. I feel like the SF characters might have a few recognisable close-quarters moves, but the rest will just be really normal Tekken kinds of moves, nothing too mad like in SF games. If that's the case though, I can see some SF characters ending up playing similarly to some of the Tekken characters.

However if they leave that SF stuff out it would be pretty blatant. I wonder if it'll really play like a Tekken game? Or if it'll be a weird fusion of Tekken and Street Fighter? I have to say that it'd be pretty impressive if they managed to pull off the latter effectively. Maybe doing just that is what's making development of the game take so long.

I wish there were a tekken x virtua fighter.

Tekken X Street Fighter Is Not Dead Confirms Katsuhiro Harada

The reports of Tekken X Street Fighter's death have been greatly exaggerated and the game's director, Katsuhiro Harada, isn't too thrilled about the mistake.

It hasn't come to pass for 2 generations now, seems dead to me.

CobraKai1071d ago

Yeah. It’s dead unless they show something new.

UnSelf1071d ago

This thing just wont die. What will it take goddamn it

Jericho13371071d ago

That didn’t stop Kazuya, why would it stop this? 😉

CptDville1071d ago

What is dead may never die.

Vanfernal1071d ago

A person in vegetative state is technically not dead either...

hombreacabado1071d ago

you will all eat your words when tekken vs street fighter releases in 2032!

MasterChief36241071d ago

My dad is Katsuhiro Harada, and I can confirm they are shooting for a 2032 release date. How did you find this information, though? I've kept very tight-lipped.

hombreacabado1071d ago

an assortment of black magic algorithms and a team of mathematicians allowed me to deduce the actual release date.

purple1011071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

"the game's director, Katsuhiro Harada, "

The game actually has a director. Don't know whether to laugh or cry - what the hell has he been doing ?

shadowhaxor1071d ago

Tekken 7, a ton of Tekken 7 DLC and now the Tekken 8 that's "rumored" in development.

I know this game is dead, they just refuse to let it die in peace.

That's sad to hear but we knew it was inevitable

blackblades1073d ago (Edited 1073d ago )

Yeah, but at least they added a SF character akuma in tekken 7 and Fatal fury character.

jukins1073d ago

That only added to the possibility for me. Because Akuma worked so damn well in tekken 7 i just "knew" it was gonna come true

CobraKai1073d ago

Yeah. Akuma felt like a working prototype to an actual Tekken X Street Fighter, but if it never happened during the last 2 generations, it was likely not going to happen at all.

blackblades1073d ago

@CobraKai
My guess from what I remember was that they had a contract. They both do a game with each other. Capcom did there's and namco game fell off the wagon so akuma made it into tekken 7 to feel that contract.

IRetrouk1073d ago (Edited 1073d ago )

🥺😭🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

UnSelf1073d ago

Now do MK vs SF like we’ve been waiting for for 30 years

Viking_mo1072d ago

Aint going to happen. Capcom already said why it wont work

porkChop1073d ago

So they barely even worked on it. I wonder what happened.

Bobertt1072d ago

It sounds like it was cancelled a long time ago when it was at 30% but they are just officially saying it now. I could be wrong but i think years ago he said the issue was keeping the feel of all the Street Fighter characters in the 3D Tekken format. They were having issues porting over all the moves i think. Plus with the other game not selling well it probably lost funding and it was put on hold then Yoshinori Ono left.

Where is Tekken X Street Fighter?

Dan Rizzo says "where is Tekken X Street Fighter? Was its reveal all for naught? Are we lead to believe that Harada’s still holding out after Ono’s departure? Will we ever see a draft of its early development phase? These are all questions that will remain – along with the title itself – in video gaming purgatory."

I think IF this game ever happened, they would remaster Street Fighter X Tekken just for the sake of it being up to date with Tekken X Street Fighter.

I can't imagine Capcom being ok with Tekken X Street Fighter being on the PS5/Series X/S while Street Fighter X Tekken is literally two system generations behind.

Petebloodyonion1141d ago

I think Capcom wants ppl to forget about that Pay to win game they created or the need to remove the gem currency from it.

Petebloodyonion1141d ago

I believe that both companies are doing well with their own fighting game atm so they don't see the urgency to produce that title. But I could see some Cameo appearing on Sf6 or the next Tekken game.

BenRC011141d ago (Edited 1141d ago )

So much fun on the vita, combos tagged to the touch screen meant some easy cross platform wins.
