The most inappropriate places to play Patapon

Gamertell's Jenni Lada writes, "Patapon is a strangely engaging PSP game. The rhythmic sounds and chants burrow into your brain, until you find yourself thinking in patas and chakas before bed. It enters your subconscious, compelling you to bring out the PSP and play.

And the portable nature of the PSP only makes this addiction worse. Its simple to take the game out at any time. "Just one more five minute level," you tell yourself, and then find a half hour later that you're still playing.

But as wonderful as Patapon is, there are times and places where it simply doesn't belong. Help save yourself from embarrassment and humiliation by reading and learning when it isn't appropriate to play."

Tempist5861d ago

Yeah... I'm glad I don't burst out. But it almost becomes second nature playing. "Pon Pon Pata Pon"

decapitator5861d ago

pon pata pon pata, has to be my favorite rhythm though. I like how they move.

Ahhhhh that song is stuck in my head now after watching a video on this game... gahhhhhhhhhhh get it out!

Lionsguard5861d ago

I have yet to run into Patapon but if it's anything like LocoRoco's song it'll probably keep me insane for good while.

Tony240ZT5861d ago

Yeah, there are lots of parts very similar to locoroco, specially between battles.

but am interested in this game. I don't really have the time or desire for a hand held though. Anyone know if this title is coming to the PSN?

Buy a Psp you wont regret it, im not much into portable system, well i didnt like them much before buying one a month ago...I bought my psp mainly for patapon and FF7 crisis core.. but theres so much to do with this system..
i really enjoy mine now, and gonna buy the new one when they will release one... its almost everything in one gadget

Guy Incognito5861d ago

on launch, and for while didn't play it much do to the lack of must have games, but i am finding that more and more great games are coming out so my love for it has been reignited. It's just a shame that i can't get the full experience from my fat psp, so its looking more and more likely that when the new series comes out, and has enough new features, that i am going to go out and get it.

I work ... come home ... hang with the GF (sometimes we play R&C or motorstorm together) and play video games a couple times a week by myself. When I play, I want to sit in my chair and play in my 40 inch HDTV and surround sound system.

Don't get my wrong. I understand the appeal of hand held consoles. If I was still in college and didn't have a 45 hour a week job, I would probably still get one. This isn't the case though.

So ... anyone know if this will come to PSN. I thought I had heard that somewhere. Maybe I'm wrong. Looks like a fun game though.

it is just specualtion... no one ever confirmed that it was indeed coming to the PSN
btw you can connect your psp to your TV and play it on

"Pon Pon Pata Pon!"

of my time with tetris on the game boy, i would get addicting for a month at a time and play it so often i would see tetris everywhere: trying to sleep and tetris would unfold upon my eyelids, then the song begins, all i have to say is that i have had some interesting dreams due to that game. i guess once i have some extra cash and time i'll have to pick up this game.

A Look at All of the Rhythm Games Available on Vita

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Despite its somewhat anaemic lineup of backwards-compatible titles (unusual in light of the genre’s strong pedigree on Sony consoles), Vita’s selection of rhythm games is highly impressive in the modern market with genre favourites like DJMax, Hatsune Miku and Taiko no Tatsujin all present and plenty of quirky oddities like Deemo, Love Live & Persona thrown in for good measure. You’re definitely going to need to try your hand at importing to get the most of the genre here, but that shouldn’t be an issue thanks to region-free hardware and easy-to-grasp gameplay."

I would've preferred Legend of Dragoon instead. Or better yet just for Sony to make PS1 Classics playable on PS4 just like they did with PS2.

Just remastering this game by itself just seems rather weird.

LAWSON722613d ago

Yeah it does, they get to make more money. Why release classics when they can slap remaster on it, do a little polish, and sell it for $20 instead of sub $10

andrewsquall2612d ago

It would have been slightly better with Um Jammer Lammy too (I know its not the 20th Anniversary of that but still). Parappa was unlockable and was playable in the entire game again but with lyrics now instead of jamming to the tunes with Lammy. Its essentially another Parappa game then. :)

Or play it right now on PSP!
