Ubisoft's UbiArt Framework is restricted more by the quality of the player's TV than the rendering capabilities of the consoles, the publisher has claimed.
Discussing the rendering capabilities of the engine with VideoGamer.com earlier today, Ubisoft France managing director Xavier Poix said that the publisher had "designed Framework [so that it] could go cross-platform, so there is no specific focus on one console.
"Actually it's more limited to the quality of the TV than the consoles right now, because the consoles are powerful enough with what we can do."
Ubisoft barely have a leg to stand on lately, so do they need to crack open the vaults and return platforming royalty to glory for some goodwill?
We need Rayman 4, they could make a great platformer game if they wanted. With the open hub levels and the like.
Better than relying on Rabbids and Assassins Creed all the time
Yes..but I am sure it won't be the Rayman game fans want. Not from the company that is Ubisoft today.
Ancel is retired from games. His hoodlum/rabbid team are doing their own thing. It would not be the same if Ubisoft did.
Experience points, skill trees to fill up, level gating, endless menial tasks and side quests, constantly scrounging for resources. Always having to upgrade your gear. A.KA. "The Ubisoft effect".
No thanks, don't ruin Rayman's legacy.
A decade on from Rayman Legends' release, it remains a near perfect platformer, so what happened to Rayman? Will we ever see another sequel?
Rayman Legends made its debut 10 years ago today, and has been launched on nearly every gaming platform since.
Too bad Ubisoft only cares about live service games now. Maybe one day they'll make a new Rayman game.
Great games.. would be cool to get qn Origins remaster at least..I know that many of the levels are in Legends, but still
"Actually it's more limited to the quality of the TV than the consoles right now, because the consoles are powerful enough with what we can do."
Right so my HDTV that runs 1080p just fine is the reason there engines are being held back? How's about the PS3/Xbox 360 that can only render 720p/30-25fps at best. Heck COD BLOPS 2 runs SUB HD textures/60fps because the current gen consoles aren't powerful enough anymore. Tell me Ubisoft on a 1080p TV why can't you render a 1080p game. Just a ridiculous claim. I would like to see a game that is 720p on a current gen console magically turn itself into something 1080p. Because you want to know what. If my HDTV can run it and so can the consoles then why are all console games 720p? So funny. I've never read or heard about any developer ever saying it's not the consoles, it's the TV.
On the other hand if 1080p TVs are holding back there engines there engines are going to be held back for a long time until 4K TVs are affordable for the masses. Are you going to sit on the same engine for the next 10 years then and say oh the TVs aren't good enough?
Just a note that I am talking about current gen consoles because he says that the engine is made so it can go cross-generation. So this applies to current and next gen consoles. But since current gen consoles don't run 1080p how can the TV hold your engine back. The dishonored devs said they don't have enough memory and had to cut stuff out of there game because of the current gen consoles.
Face it. We don't know everything. Maybe they're right? I mean, not all TV's display the same quality. My 46" Seiki and 42" Sony both display 1080p, but the Sony is noticeably better.
Is this what they were talking about?
