you know, i tried DR2 for the first time last week (got it as part of the free with gold on XBL), and i have to say that for 2010, that game looks like a dog's breakfast. horrible textures, horrible animation that looked like it should have been 2006...

DR3 looks much better, i know, but does it look like what people are hyping it up to be?

More needs to be revealed. Personally it looks to grey and brown and realistic but Rev3Games reported its actually got the silliness we love from the series. I think it looks ok, but I've only played the original DR years ago on 360 so I don't remember enough to compare. Thought the old ones were sort of cartooney in design. More light hearted.

DR2 is a good game. DR series might not be your game.

ziggurcat3910d ago

perhaps not, i was just really disappointed in the quality of the graphics considering it didn't come out *that* long ago, and a lot of games from that year are miles ahead, visually.

Dr2 to me just seems so... scaled back. It's like they put so much work in to getting all those zombies on screen that everything else was left looking like garbage.

I think with DR3 we're looking at a much more refined experience... which may do great things as far as pushing the brand forward.

People say "Well... DR3 has lost its quirkyness!"

Maybe that's because DR3 actually looks good?

What Happened To The Dead Rising Series?

Over the last week, Jake has been going back to the Dead Rising 2 Off The Record remaster and has been an absolute blast. When he was 15 he first got his Xbox 360 and Dead Rising with it, it was unlike any other experience. It made him wonder though, what happened to the Dead Rising series.

Interesting timing. This retrospective was released just a few days ago: https://youtu.be/Et-cKSrWuc...

Ah no, I just felt like writing it as I started playing the game again and wanted to offer up my opinions 😁

InklingGirl1388d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

Complacency and new teams who didn't understand what made the series special.

Darksonic221389d ago

Seems like there was just a ton of infighting aswell and so many more issues. Honestly sadly Dead Rising 5 before it was cancelled sounded nothing like dead rising, nothing learnt from. Dr4 at all.

ColdSin1388d ago

DR4 should have not been made anyways. DR3 closed everything nicely.

Check out the vid i posted above.

They're a solid channel. I always click on their vids, unless it's a series/game I simply have no interest in.

RamRod881389d ago

They took away the depth and charm of the game that made it fun and interesting, and made it into a generic zombie killing game.

DeadManMMX1389d ago

This was the series the got me to buy an Xbox 360. The first one was so good. It still had horror elements. As it went on it became kind of a parody. Never forget getting Zombie Genecider achievement and then restarting the game to get the Mega Buster. That thing was monstrous against enemies.

But you never know it might be RISING again someday .

haha yes it may....good one.

The Decade's Bizarre and Quirky Gaming News

VGChartz's Patrick Day-Childs: "2020 is upon us! The past decade has had some downs, like the influx of monetisation within full games, Blizzard's community backlash and EA winning the worst company in America award twice, but also some ups, like the leaps in understanding gaming from more mainstream companies to wholesome news like gamers helping preserve a controller signed by someone’s deceased mum.

The decade has also been the highlight of some… bizarre news, and I decided collect together some of the more obscure and quirky stories to make you giggle or question what the hell happened this decade."
