During its showcase event at Gamescom 2013 Microsoft just announced that FIFA 14 will come with every Xbox One preorder in Europe.

Very big announcement, but Sony could just bundle the game themselves tbh, and still be cheaper than MS. The only reason they can do this though is because they are really ripping EU consumers off the with the price already. PS3 was £425 when it was $599 in the US, this is £429 and only $499 in the US. Still, it will hit their bottom-line immensely.

This is MS attempt at a price cut in Europe. Especially after they announce no day one pre-orders and lowered their target countries from 21 to 13... The pre-orders must have been pretty bad. Either way good news for European Xbox One owners, it's kind of like they announced a price drop before the console even came out, at least that's how I see it lol.

I can't speak for all Europeans, but for me personally, like I have said before, the decision to purchase the X1 is based on more than Fifa being bundled in for free. Funnily enough, its based on "actual services and hardware" (I can elaborate if you want).

This is a special deal on pre-orders of the Xbox One in the limited, European launch, then it's over. And, as many pointed out above, it would still be cheaper to buy a PS4 and Fifa.

Good for people who pre-order the Xbox One in the 7 out of 50 European countries it'll be available in at launch..sure it is. A massive, game changer...not so much. I'm not trying to take anything away from this annoncement, it's a good thing. I'm just trying to be realistic as to it's potential impact. First, remember that the most powerful doesn't mean the winner. Look at Wii in the 7th generation.

It is indeed a good thing. I haven't been impressed by anything the X1 has been doing so far, but this is certainly a step in the right direction to adding value to the console price.

It will certainly improve sales, but people motivated only by the desire to save money will still see a cheaper alternative; this is for people who are wavering on a purchase based on the price being a potential barrier.

I think this is great news for Europe. This is a big series, and will move Xbox Ones. My thing is why would MS offer the US anything? The preorders have sold out, plus the machine is higher in Europe if I am not mistaken? Can't wait to see Sony's show. Bring on the fall.

Cool news for Europeans looking to buy the xbone, i think this is to compensate for the bone's launch delay in some of Europe and try to sway some sports fan to wait for the bone instead of opting for the four in the process.
Anyway getting a game for free is always good in my book.

Great news if you are pre ordering a XBO but I find MS very frustrating.

They would have had to spend an awful lot of money to pull this off and I personally would have preferred that they invest in 1st party games.

3-4 years from now we will be in the same position we are in now, nothing fresh or new from MS while Sony continue to pump out exclusives.

It will be interesting to see if this is enough to tempt consumers into buying a XBO but I imagine there will need to be another huge amount of cash to advertise this deal.

The fact is, without huge advertising this deal will go largely unnoticed by the masses with only the core gamers who read gaming news being aware of this fantastic deal. The mum and dad who are buying little jimmy a new console wont know about this unless expensive advertising on primetime TV grabs their attention.

All in all, this is a huge sum of money that could have gone towards making some quality exclusive.

It's a huge deal for Xbox on the European market, but it just shows the problem MS has. They do not have any good IPs atm that would sell a system so they just take the big MS money and simply buy a third party game deal. It's actually pretty sad if you think about it.

It's really going to be interesting to see how many (actually few) exclusive games the Xbox One will have a few years down the line. My guess: close to none, at least no good games.

As others have said. An XB1 including FIFA is still more expensive than buying a PS4 and FIFA separately.

Whilst it's not as high profile as FIF, getting DriveClub PS edition is a nice bonus. I'm on the fence with this game, so having an extended demo will be cool. Plus there's the three Indie games bundled in to PS+ I believe one of which , Don't Starve, is awesome.

PS4 + FIFA14+ PS+ = $515 or (£445).
Xbox One + FIFA14 + Gold = $560 (£470).

PS4 still cheaper... oh wait have PS+ already and don't have Gold... Only $465 (£405), $95 (£65) cheaper! XD

Not to diminish the fact that anything free is a nice addition; but I would imagine MS could have funded a good few indie projects with the money it cost them to secure this with EA.

Nice to see the MS marketing money hard at work again /s. It's like the 360 all over again... Timed exclusives, timed DLC, advertising that makes it appear multi-plats are exclusives. It was this strategy that turned me off the 360 and makes me seriously think the XB1 will repeat history and be well supported for the first 2 - 3 years and then drop off considerably.

I got tired of Fifa, and so many people are. It's a scripted, bullshit game. I don't really think this will take away the huge user-base away from Ps3/Ps4 though, soccer games have always been more preferred on PS platforms and Ps4 is still the more cheaper, more powerful console here.
