A Legend is Reborn: Final Fantasy IV Comes to Life in Full 3D

The revolutionary title comes to DS on July 22.

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in North America, announced today that it will launch a completely re-envisioned Final Fantasy IV for Nintendo DS on July 22, 2008. A new generation of gamers will now have the opportunity to experience a legend reborn.

The team that brought Final Fantasy III to Nintendo DS comes together once again to breathe new life into a classic that broke convention and introduced a wide array of innovations to the RPG genre. With its groundbreaking Active Time Battle (ATB) system and an engrossing, character-driven plot, Final Fantasy IV was a stunning step forward for role-playing games when it was originally released for the Super NES in 1991.

"Navigate effortlessly through the game with Nintendo DS Touch Screen functionality and stylus-driven controls while receiving vital assistance via the dual-screen presentation"

heh that's cool and all but man that was spread on pretty thick

I recall this game was the sheeze on the SNES when I was a lad. Square has been doing a pretty good job with these remakes for handhelds so this one could be pretty cool.

Oh heck yeah FFIV was the sheeze! :)

Yes Square Enix has been putting a lot of tlc in with the DS and are figuring out all the tricks of the trade so I do expect this title to be well worth it

I know. When I saw some of the information in my Nintendo Power, well, I had to change my pants at work. ;p

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece

This was the game that got me to notice the series. 6 is the one that captured my heart and 7 was when it cemented it as one of my all-time favorite series. For me 4 - 9 are the best. 10... I can appreciate it and enjoy it, but it doesn't hold a candle to the classics. 12 is good too, but I can never finish it. 13... well, it's--it's a game. 15 starts off pretty strong, but then feels rushed and slapped together with duct tape and glue by the end.

I'm hoping 16 will blow away all expectations and really give us a game that rivals the classics. The trailers are doing a good job in making me think it can!

Yeah, I am similar. 4 and 6 are my favorites, with 7 and 10 next. Everything since 10 has gone downhill (not counting MMOs). I don't hold much hope for FFXVI, though it is very pretty.

Yea i'm with ya, there. Don't get me wrong, I think 7 Remake really restored my faith in Square Enix, but I miss the good ol' turn-based stuff.

@CrimsonWing69 Ah, FF7 Remake completely slipped my mind! I enjoyed that one, though I haven't touched Intergrade yet.

The theme of remorse & redemption still haunt me today. This game also introduced the famous Crystal Theme.
