GodisaGeek: "Worms: Clan Wars is a fine game and, aside from the odd physics bugs here and there, it puts the series back on track after some unfortunate deviations. But it’s essentially the same game from circa 1999, with a moderate graphical overall and a few new weapons. It took Team17 12 years and a few mis-steps to see they had it right way back then. With an engaging single-player experience and a seemingly strong and in-depth multiplayer component, there is plenty to keep us occupied for a while. The trouble Team17 will have is the same one they have had all along, and that is how to keep the series from going stale by adding fresh ideas without ruining it completely. But it’s safe to say that, this time, they got it right."
This week, you can get Steamworld Dig for only $5, or pick up Worms Clan Wars for $6. Flatout is $2, Flatout 2 can be yours for $2.50, while Flatout 3 is $7.50, and Flatout: Ultimate Carnage is $5.
In an interview with Strategy Informer veteran UK developers Team 17 revealed that they will be taking a year-long break from their signature Worms franchise, after a mixed response to last entry Worms Clan Wars.
When asked at indie event Rezzed how Clan Wars had performed, Business Development head Nick Clarkson said, "Sadly not as well as we'd hoped. As a game it's probably the most complete version of Worms out there, at least on PC. Certainly post-launch the support for it was very good, there was bugs here and there and the team kept on top of it."
I think they named it hoping it would piggyback off the crazy success of Clash of Clans.
Worms celebrates its 18th birthday this month and to celebrate Team17 is holding a free-to-play Multiplayer Weekend on Worms Clan Wars and offering a discount off its entire Worms Steam catalogue.
