PlayStation 4 Meets Oculus Rift Concept Video

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has openly stated that it has teams that have been working with Oculus Rift, the stereoscopic 3D motion-tracking headset, and that they are interested in the prospect of bringing to PlayStation 4. However, while no deal has yet been officially announced, that hasn’t stopped artists from imagining just what a collaboration could look like.

Now imagine Killzone Shadow Fall with Oculus Rift.... and with the Sharpshooter....

christrules00413934d ago

I don't know if your into horror games but imagine Outlast with the Oculus Rift and a 7.1 surround sound stereo headset. That would be awesome.

dodo1013934d ago (Edited 3934d ago )

@ForgottenProphecy Ahh man that would be awesome!

MysticStrummer3934d ago

I'm thinking more about Planetside 2 with Oculus Rift, but KZ:SF would be sweet also of course.

spaceg0st3934d ago

Bf4 and oculus rift for me... Ground combat mixed with aircraft flying and parachuting. Epic

They need to let Evil Angel or Brazzers get the Oculus Rift so we can have 3D virtual reality Porn.

FamilyGuy3934d ago

I guess the POV stuff would be cool lol, I would really want porn so in my face though .

boing13934d ago

We have a development version of OR at work. It's pretty amazing. Half Life 2 is a blast.

nirwanda3934d ago (Edited 3934d ago )

What's it like, do you ever lose your balance looking around.

Sheikah3934d ago

it takes some getting used to - and some are more prone to get motion sickness, from the device, than others.

In our office, I'm one of the few who are unaffected.. But when I played TF2 as that runner double-jump guy (scout?), actively trying to make mysself motion-sick by jumping, spinning and looking around - it was "mission accomplished" :p

nirwanda3934d ago

@sheikah
I don't get travel sick or sea sick so I hope I be ok.
I think it would be great for a horror game something like condemned.

christrules00413934d ago

This is too your other comment but Outlast or The Last of Us would be awesome on the Oculus Rift.

boing13934d ago (Edited 3934d ago )

Well, my friend didn't know what to expect. He almost fell when I showed him Roller Coaster tech demo :D. But the biggest feature for me is zero lag. When you turn your head, there is no delay in-game. This makes OR very immersive. Resolution is on the low side though, and lenses get dirty pretty quickly. I really hope Sony and MS will adopt this baby for next-gen when it launches. I can honestly see myself playing on OR instead of TV.

nirwanda3934d ago

@boing is the resolution low or is it because you so close the display that it becomes noticeable, zero lags amazing, I use glasses for distance so it wouldn't be a problem for me to take them off and use the rift, but could you get a pair of glasses inside if you were long sighted.

Kurt Russell3933d ago

If you don't tend to suffer motion sickness you'll be fine. I find it great, others get a little woozy but they're not so used to dealing with Z depth in general.

The only thing is the resolution on the dev kit is low, when it's HD things are going to get real!

boing13933d ago (Edited 3933d ago )

@nirwanda
Developer version feels strongly unifinished. I reckon that retail version will have better materials and higher resolution.

nirwanda3934d ago

Has the rift got headphones built in or is there room it fit some proper gaming headphones over the top I think that sound would really help the immersion.

pyramidshead3934d ago

Now THIS....could be interesting...

Akira20203934d ago (Edited 3934d ago )

My luck, as I'm using this device my house gets quietly burglarized. Doh!!!

sobotz3934d ago

+1 for a thing that didn't happen

Blackdeath_6633934d ago

What the f**k? calm down will you this is just a concept made by someone (i think T3) don't get excited yet none of this is actually happening. you should watch this video where they discuss the concept http://www.youtube.com/watc...

stage883934d ago

"Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has openly stated that it has teams that have been working with Oculus Rift, the stereoscopic 3D motion-tracking headset, and that they are interested in the prospect of bringing to PlayStation 4"

My point still stands.
Another +1 for PS4.

starchild3934d ago

Actually this article is based on false information. Sony has not openly stated that it is working with Oculus Rift. And they have never stated that they are interested in bringing the Rift to the PS4. All of that is completely false.

All Shuhei Yoshida said is they have a dev kit and he loves it. Over 17 thousand developers have dev kits so this is hardly surprising.

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7375d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt375d ago (Edited 375d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal375d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow375d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal375d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt375d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.

Although I never owned an oculus, I played the demo for this at an electronics store. Pretty impressive in an early goings of VR title.
