What now bitches! Just wait until the floodgates open and Nintendo starts letting the games flow! I'm sorry that I said bitches, I just got excited. Software drives hardware!!

AznGaara3935d ago

Yup waiting for Bayonetta 2, assuming it comes out next year, to drop money on the console :). Hopefully the price will drop by then. lol

Lovable3935d ago (Edited 3935d ago )

Yay Wii U finally breaking the 20000 sales per week. Sweet! I guess the PS4 and Xbone are doomed after all.

Theyellowflash303935d ago

No, the Wii U isn't breaking 20,000 per week....yet.

Its averaging right around 15K or so

knifefight3935d ago

It broke 20,000 in *one* week. It was down to 15,000 the next week, and is currently sitting at 10,000.

Wtf are you talking about?

Guess maybe you're kidding.

Wii U will be sitting right next to my PS4 if it goes down in price

:]

nosferatuzodd3935d ago

like i said before Nintendo will do fine all the doom and gloom I've seen it before when everyone was talking crap about ps3 a few years ago

mcstorm3935d ago

All 3 are going to do fine come the end of the gen. People are just to quick to say its not selling well now so its a flop. The reason the WiiU is not selling well is its lack of games in terms of 1st party. The WiiU has a very good collection of 3rd party games but this is not the reason why someone would go to the Wiiu to start with. It is the same with the PS4 and Xbox one. Why would someone buy a PS4 or xbox one if they own a 360 or PS3 to play BF4? they wont they would buy the new console for games like KZ, Forza ect and then get BF4 as well. Its the same with the WiiU.

If I look at the games I have on the WiiU at the start I got ZombieU, MarioU, Sonic Allstars, CODBO2, Tekken Tag 2, Nintendo Land now out of all of them people who wanted MarioU or ZombieU would of gone and got a WiiU the rest are on the current gen consoles so why spend £250 on a console and then £40 on a game when you can buy the game for £40 on your current console.

The WiiU is now starting to get a good list of must own games MarioU, LuigiU, Lego City and Pikmin 3 are games out now but we have wonderful101, Zelda Windwaker HD, Sonic, Bayonetta 2 and Donkey Kong Country all out in the next few months as well as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash bros early next year. This is also just games the core like to play the none core we have WiiFitU, WiiU Party and others I cant remember.

Im not saying the WiiU will out sell the PS4 or Xbox one as we don't know which console will sell the most and people on here don't have a clue as they said the PSV would walk all over the 3DS but the one thing that is for sure is the WiiU is not dead its just starting to come alive.

TheEvilWithin3935d ago

And this is just Pikmin. My assumption is WiiU sales in Japan will continue at their current pace for the rest of the year, if not higher.

The big question is NA and Europe. We seem swayed more by advertisements than Japan, hopefully Nintendo will cook something up

jairusmonillas3935d ago

Doubled of a very low sales number is nothing to get excited about.

doubled means if it used to be 5 wii u then it just went 10 wii u which is not huge if the normal sales are VERY VERY LOW like wii u

tehpees33935d ago

Wii U was reported to sell 1 million lifetime units in Japan. Nice straw grasping there.

Realplaya3935d ago

Before you commented it was all over the net they sold 1 mill and at the time of your writing I'm sure it sold more.

Lovable3935d ago (Edited 3935d ago )

@jairu
Lol I know right..oh my goodness

Theyellowflash303935d ago (Edited 3935d ago )

Read the article jairusmonillas, stop damage controlling.

And unless you consider the PS3 numbers very very low like in Japan then you just owned yourself.

knifefight3935d ago

Psst. The PS3 has been out for 7 years. ;)

Theyellowflash303935d ago

Psst... it doesn't matter, nobody says the PS3 isn't selling in Japan, that's the point.

knifefight3935d ago (Edited 3935d ago )

Nobody is saying that because when it's been out for 7 years, the expectation is not to sell on the same level that it was selling in, say, its first 2 or 3 years on the market. The PS3 isn't selling because, for one thing, the PS3 has already SOLD.

The Wii-U (out for 8 months) and Vita (out for 20 months), on the other hand, are in what *should* be their primes. That's why people talk about their under-performing sales.

While other systems might also take more than a year to really hit their stride, they also didn't spend their whole first freaking years with sales so abyssal that the companies were apologizing for their performances and constantly re-adjusting their already-low sales goals. Look at the charts for those periods. Their numbers -- even numbers that earned scorn and mockery -- were *still* higher than the Wii-U's current run.

Dude, you can try to do Wii-U damage control all you like, but to think that this system is doing well is the equivalent of wearing the thickest possible blinders.

Theyellowflash303935d ago

The Vita has been out for longer than the Wii U, and no, a system doesn't hit its "prime" till about 2-3 years in.

The PS3 didn't get going to Metal Gear Solid 4 came out in 2008.

Xbox 360 started going around the time Gears and COD 4 came out in 2007.

Wii was good from the start, but it really took off when Galaxy came out at the end of 07

So each system too about a year to 2 years to get going. Wii U has been on the market for about 9 months, and has plenty of software coming out for it this year.

Got dam, do you sony Ponies (coin phrase words of youtuber nextgen720) ever do anything but troll fucking articles that isn't about your all mighty savior Sony? Let the Nintendo fans enjoy there bit of good news you brainwashed fanboy. Seriously, you act like everything is just perfect in sony, land, but every time the PS4 is being demoed it crashes but where are your negative comments about that. and before you say you are not a fan boy I already read threw your comment history and anly had to read 3 or 4 to see that yea you are another sony sheep. all you people do is troll every other console article that isn't sony. Do you realize that 80% of the time the top stories on this site for the last 4 years have been xbox's, but not because it's flooded with xbox fans comments but instead a bunch of trolling sony sheep bitching about a console they don't even own.

nosferatuzodd3935d ago

dude y'all need to stop that I'm a big Sony fan not going to deny that but i like Nintendo very much I'm a big Zelda fan so there don't put every one in the same category I'm the one who defend Nintendo everytime the other fanboys talk smack

AbortMission3935d ago

You watch that moron Zaire?

You shouldn't have said that because now I can't even take your butthurt seriously...

NihonNoAkushongema3935d ago (Edited 3935d ago )

Doubled sales, whether they were high or low, is something to get excited about.

It says that they finally did something right and there is a ray of light shining through.

If the Vita doubled in sales, I'm sure everybody on this site, including you, would be jumping with glee. Hell, even I would.

Give the credit where it is due and let the big N at least have this moment. They finally got something right.

If Pikmin 3 (one of Nintendo's pawns) can dig Wii U out of the hole then imagine what the king and queen will do. I thought Pikmin would appeal to a niche but seeing it sell systems make me think Nintendo is going to rake cash again at Christmas.

Theyellowflash303935d ago

Somebody gets it. Pikmin 3 is a small fry compared to Mario, Zelda, Sonic, and Donkey Kong.

Midori3935d ago (Edited 3935d ago )

Pikmin 3 did indeed provide a boost to the console's sales, but its effects are negligible in any term longer than July and August. The second week saw a decline of nearly 8000 sales which, considering no post-Pikmin week surpassed even 25,000 sales, is a major portion of the overall gain the title provided. Each week following this saw a steady decline with the final week just 39 units shy of being another four digit number that we started with. Were this a line graph for any remotely significant period, Pikmin 3 would be an unremarkable bump followed by an equally unremarkable downward slope; Pikmin 3 more than doubled sales for a week but shifted over 50% fewer consoles each week following. While that decline percentage is set to improve, the overall userbase gain is not.

Some have falsely positioned Pikmin 3 as a console-seller but these figures prove it to be indeed comparable to higher-end niche software (at least in its ability to shift consoles). With that said, it is en route to shift a few million copies worldwide, which is certainly beneficial in a different sense.

In essence though, Pikmin 3 offers precisely zero insight as to how the heavy hitters will perform.

Knushwood Butt3935d ago

Let's not forget that Nintendo are still advertising Pikmin 3 heavily on TV in Japan, which is their usual method, but the sales just aren't there.

In comparison, other non-Nintendo game ads are normally shown only running up to the release - rarely after release.

Thatguy-3103935d ago

Can't wait for Christmas to come so all the people that believe that Mario and the gang will catapult the wii u to success can eat their words.

AbortMission3935d ago

1) Mario is casual and stale at this point so to even brag about that.. I have no idea

2) Those sales won't get better unless Nintendo does a desperate price cut again like with the 3DS AND somehow get a ton of games out AND get 3rd party support - which right now is pretty damn sad

truechainz3935d ago

define casual if you can

Knushwood Butt3935d ago

The big difference is that Nintendo have been successful in selling the 3DS to the DS crowd: they are failing to sell the Wii U to the Wii crowd.

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

RiseNShine14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno14d ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.

Nintendo's Massacre Of The 3DS And Wii U Is Finally Complete, Regrettably

Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
