"The Wii is the most successful of them all in terms of lifetime sales—Nintendo has sold more than 100 million devices, with Xbox 360 at 84 million and PS3 at 80 million sold—but only the PS3 and Xbox 360 continue on nearly a decade after they launched."

They have done well

In the end the cell processor will be a foot note in the history books due to the difficulty they all had.

Good to see Sony adopt the unified memory of the 360 over the previous dedicated memory, much more versatile.

I feel last generation in its entirety was ok at best.

The first several years were looking promising when devs were taking risks on games only to get dumbed down by shooters hindering any other devs to create games that were similar to the PS2 and OG Xbox era in a fear of getting drowned out by some shooter.

That's not the publishers fault per say the cost of games were rising higher than any publisher expected which forced them to stick with a franchise for allot longer.

Leaving wealth of variety with the likes of PS2 era out the door.

I blame mostly COD 4. If COD never became as big as it did maybe we would see more variety or a return to fan favorites.

I'm not saying there were no gems because they certainly were but notthing like 2 gens ago. When games were interesting, very fun and innovative.

I stopped reading at 360 @ 84 million and ps3 @ 80million

yeahright23596d ago

The math was off, sure, as I believe as of last count the ps3 was a tad ahead of the 360 but the article was still a good read.

No the 360 is at 84M they announced it a month ago.

I will remember 7th gen as most forgettable one.

Nothing about the whole gen being overreaching, overhyped and pretty much went in the wrong direction I bet.

"Xbox 360 at 84 million and PS3 at 80 million sold" dafuq ? do we live in alternate universes ?

RosweeSon3596d ago

Many developers had a hard time wrapping their heads around the PS3 during the console’s first few years... Is this the problem xbox one now finds itself in, I personally don't think so just don't think the box is up to the job either way Microsoft and their xbox one are gonna find themselves in the same place as the ps3, not a great position to be in hence why sony stepped it up as they didn't wanna settle for second best or 3rd even ;)
