PS4 Vs. Xbox One Poll: Nintendo No Match For Sony And Microsoft?

Well after Miyamoto's apology for the WiiU...Nintendo is going to have to step up their game. I mean they had an early start, but they were pretty much shooting blanks at this point.

I still believe the Wii U doesnt have a market. After people who have to play Mario/Zelda, the price is going to have to drop considerably before we see a change. Next gen will help with people seeing WiiU as a cheap alternative, but without support from EA, Ubisoft, Activision, that market just will not be there.

I agree the Will U doesn't have a market. I don't think it's been advertised or even pushed like the Wii. I don't know the Wii U feels like it should have been launched when the PS3 & XB360 launched.

Those are huge margin differences for the PS4 vs XBone. I thought the margin would have closed with all the XBone policy reversals.

the market is the hardcore nintendo fans and thats seems to be it at the moment.

we won't really know its future until the new mario, smash, mario kart, and zelda games release.

there aren't any games on the Wii U that are heavy hitters at the moment

they also need a price drop. only $50 less than ps4 will hurt them a lot

A holiday price drop will help but their sales won't compare to X1 and PS4.

Nintendo as a company will be fine but the WiiU won't have good sales numbers. Even with Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and so on. The system is just not that appealing to the majority of gamers.

The thing is, if Nintendo wanted to they could just release Nintendo 1st and 2nd Party games and people would gladly buy the console. Honestly, if that had been the plan from the start their sales would have been amazing. Instead they keep trying to work with 3rd party developers and that nice and all but Nintendo is probably the only company that doesn't need 3rd Party support to be successful.

If you think otherwise, than you have no idea how insanely popular Nintendo 1st Party and 2nd Party IPs are amongst gamers. A serious Pokemon console game for the WiiU alone would be enough to make people buy the console.

The reason Nintendo 1st party games have always seemed to do better than 3rd party on Nintendo's platforms is because Nintendo has a tradition of alienating 3rd parties. In the cartridge days every game had to be approved by Nintendo (since they were making the cartridges) and Nintendo was known to "screen" out many games that challenged their own; it was Nintendo's form of censorship.

During Nintendo's disc-based era (GameCube forward) Nintendo alienates third parties by holding back tools, utilities and tricks so that their 1st party games always look and function better than 3rd party games. A few 3rd party developers figure out the pandora's box and are able to make great games on Nintendo's platform that rival 1st party, but not very many and in most cases the "risk isn't worth the reward" or more that the money spent doesn't justify the money returned.

In all, Nintendo isn't going away. They have the handheld market pretty cornered and they always make their systems cheap enough that they manage to make profit no matter what. If the WiiU does tank they can still use the profits from the 3DS to fund R&D of a replacement and put off a replacement for the 3DS a little bit longer and use their 1st party titles to float the WiiU until they replace it.

we cant just assume wii U will fail , its not selling right now because theres not enough exclusive experiences that differentiate wiiU with the current gen experiences (which is why i havent got it yet) ! people buy x360 for halo, forza, gears etc and ps3 for Uncharted, GOW, Killzone , Ratchet , Infammous and many more ! once the wiiU exclusives start rolling in then it will sell BUT IF IT DOESNT SELL when the exclusives roll in then nintendo will be in BIG trouble !

I agree with you for the most part....but Nintendo themselves won't be in big trouble IF the Wii U doesn't start to sell more after the exclusives roll out.

I mean, they only sold 160k Wii U's last quarter.....and still turned a profit. Big trouble implies that they will be having financial woes...when they could lose $300m a year, every year, and be around in 30-40 years.

Sony on the other hand, NEEDS the PS4 to perform well and they NEED a high rate of PS+ buyers. They will lose $ on every system sold, and digital sales + PS+ sales are what is going to help soften the blow.

Their credit status is still junk, they posted a $139m loss last quarter, and didn't have the balls to show how many Vitas were sold. They are going to be the ones in big trouble if their console doesn't perform well.

I don't understand how this poll is relevant. How can you do a serious poll when only one of the three consoles is actually out. If we don't know how Xbox one and PS4 will pay out why is it that Nintendo is no match. The Wii wasn't in league with Xbox 360 and PS3, but they kicked these companies butts in sales. Xbox 360 vs Wii , one year head start with about 8 million units sold and a well higher specs, yet, the Wii blew it out of water...

Now, Xbox 1 vs Wii U, Nintendo now have an Head start with about 4 million units sold and a bit lower specs, now watch Nintendo magic !!!

The Wii U has a very closer specs to Xbox 1 except the RAM and their so-called cloud which will show no difference

The Wii U will show it's power in its 1st party title as well as 3rd parties like watchdogs, cod etc , as dev says that they are building it from ground-up this time and not just a mere port from weaker consoles (ps360 ).

I've got every confidence that nintendo can turn their fortunes around, look at the 3ds. just over a year ago everyone was saying how it was a lame duck and going to get destroyed by the vita.

Its now just posted as being the biggesst selling games machine globally for the past year, with the highest software sales too.

What turned its luck around.1st party Exclusives and plenty of them. Something the wii U is about to get by the bucketload.

hell since they released pikmin 3 in japan and europe sales of the console have already started to pick up.

Then there's going to be 3d world, dk tropical freeze, wwhd and wonderful 101 to look forward to if you're a gamer,

And for the casuals there's going to be a new wii party and wii fit by the end of the year. Might not sell consoels to the likes of us, but i seriously wouldnt underestimate the shifting power of those games. especially on the run up to christmas.

Couple that with a nice ambassadors program for us early adopters and a hefty price cut and i think the WiiU will do fine.

Not wii levels but i'm sure it'll find its neiche soon enough and make nintendo a tidy porfit to boot.

Why would any hardcore or dedicated gamer be willing to spend $350 on a system that is technically 3 years outdated when a new system like PS4 is coming out that is far more advanced for $400? The ability to play Nintendo's first party games has always been it's main attraction but through the years, Sony and Microsoft have built up so many lasting IPOs and franchises that gamers have started to not care if they can't play the next Mario or Link anymore.

A $300 pricepoint have also proven to not work amongst the casual gamers and parents buying gifts for their young ones as there were reports of the Wii even outselling the Wii U.

The Wii U can not and most likely will not be able to sell if their executives continue to believe that the price points they're offering for the Wii U is a good deal. New upcoming heavy hitters from Nintendo could have been system sellers this coming holiday season but unfortunately for one problem, Sony and Ms's new consoles. Without at least a $50 price drop, nobody is going to even think about the U because it will all be the choice between the One or the PS4.

A $100 pricedrop can be a game changer for Nintendo but that all depends on one thing from Nintendo, their executives GREED. Microsoft and Sony's pricing for their new consoles are very competitive and are absolutely selling with a loss on each system. Nintendo can't really be sitting there thinking they can sell a system that have truly outdated specs to be able to sell without selling it at a loss. If they do then they no one else to blame if the Wii U ends up being a distant third in this generation of home consoles.

Xbox 1 is not powerful than the Wii U, they are similar in specs.
All 3 next gen consoles has approximately equivalent CPUs

Last gen CPUs @ 3.2ghz > next gen 1.6ghz.
This is becos, the cpu is less essential on next gen consoles as more powerful gpgpu (general purpose gpu) can run both cpu and gpu task simultaneously.

The only advantage over the Wii U is the ram, which can be compressed in games that uses over 2GB

As for the ps360, they are far weaker.

I enjoyed pes 2013 on my Ps3 and waiting for pes 2014 coming sept using kojima fox engine and i am also pes game on my wii u next year.
As for Ps4, i am definitely getting it , but the ONE,
no WAY !!!

Although the wii sold awesomely well I feel developers decided back then that nintendo were not going to be supported by their top tier games ever again. Microsotf and sony seem much more profitable for them.

This is an example of the industry choosing what the market will do rather than the market dictating to the industry... lets hope the big companies don't decide to bunk off any other systems and completely stifle any competition or innovation

The Wii U will be fine beginning in the next few months and into the holidays. The PS4 and XBOne will release, however, most of the titles at launch are going to be multiplats which are going to be available on Wii U, XB360, and PS3, so the incentive to buy the "Next Gen" systems at a premium price is not very appealing. The systems will sell, but we will need to see how many launch games actually come out on time, as well as the launch window games for each. The Wii U will most likely drop by $50 by then too and the bigger games will be coming as well as the aforementioned multiplats from Ubisoft and Activision.

Obviously the anticipation and hype for "new" effects these polls. Take the same poll next year once all the pros and cons of each system are fully realized and I bet the gaps won't be so large. Right now everyone is looking at the ps4 with rose colored glasses expecting nothing but awesomeness, of course it's gonna run away with this poll. Wii U has had a rough start and has yet to really show us what it can do and Nintendo's main 1st party titles have yet to hit the console. Nintendo doesn't necessarily need to match up with the other two consoles but instead just offer what they can't. They have to give ps4 and xb1 owners a reason to own one too and I feel like by dropping the price of the deluxe model, having some kind of bundle and some solid first party titles Nintendo can accomplish that.
