"From the offset, things weren’t looking particularly rosy for Arcania: The Complete Tale. With a nasty, fifteen minute mandatory install and pre-rendered CG cutscenes that look like they’ve been encoded with the world’s most bleeding edge 120p video codec, its safe to say that Arcania: The Complete Tale was looking about as enticing as performing an ear-drum lobotomy with a rusty spoon."

Ouch. What a shame. I really dug the original Arcania release so a 2/10 really confuses me. Was that much changed or do I just like crappy games?
No, you have good taste. It just boils down to the fact that Arcania The Complete Tale is based on Arcania 4 (EDIT: Arcania: Gothic 4), which wasn't great to start with and the absolutely abysmal conversion literally murders any potential it might have had.
I got confused Joe. I meant to say Arcania: Gothic 4, not Arcania 4 (as Arcania 4 doesn't actually exist).
And this is the thing, it could well be the PS3 that was the issue, but tehcnical issues or not, this game is seriously underwhelming. Trite and poorly executed story, generic quests, low production budget etc. etc.
Regardless of the SKU, those problems don't go away, sure, it would likely be higher than 2/10, but not sufficiently higher to worth bothering with.
Its like the opposite of polishing a turd; they simply smooshed it into the ground instead.
Just my opinion though obvs.
Bought it on pc for $4.
Oof.
Oooooooooooof.
