IGN review of George of the Jungle: Search for the Secret

Daemon Hatfield writes for IGN:
"Remember the 1997 live-action George of the Jungle movie starring Brendan Fraser? You're better off digging it out of the bargain DVD bin than trying to play this game. Even if your kids are big fans of the cartoon, they deserve better than this. It's not funny and it's not fun to play. If the developers had simply fine tuned the collision detection it probably would have been fine. As it is, this is one bungle in the jungle."

IGN: George of the Jungle Review

There are certainly many worse games on the DS coasting on a children's license. But there are enough things wrong with George of the Jungle to keep IGN from recommending it. It looks ok and sounds great, but it's really short and the mini-games are tiresome. But if your son or daughter just has to have a George of the Jungle game, definitely go with the DS version over the console editions.

Gamestyle Review: George of the Jungle

Gamestyle writes: "Every now and again we get games we don't necessarily want to review, and George of the Jungle is one of them. The only memory we have of the character is the absolutely atrocious Brendan Fraser movie, though it appears he has since acquired his own cartoon on Nickelodeon. Even if we look past the fact that this is a game for five year olds, we still found George of the Jungle to be a tedious experience.

Right from the start, we couldn't help but cringe. A George of the Jungle rap song playing over the title screen made us squirm and what's worse is the irritatingly catchy song persists in our minds even now. George's insistance on speaking in the third person in the opening scene also caused annoyance; only The Rock should be able to get away with that."
