The art direction is fantastic. The character models and animations are pretty lacking, however. Falcom is going through 3D growing pains.

Abriael3927d ago

That's not really what matters in this kind of game anyway. Story + Gameplay > All.

I mean I would get it if its got great gameplay and story, but still, I like good looking games as well and if I get all in one then even better.

That's why sales of Trails in the Sky: 1st chapter for PSP are very poor. The majority of western gamer only see if the graphics are full of bell and whistles than that game is worth playing. They don't care if the story and gameplay are good enough to make them play it, even that game had 'handheld graphic' or 'PS2 graphic'.

It's sad really. And this is one of the reason why in this generation we saw a lot of japanese company don't want to bring their games for western gamer...

OMG This game needs to get here ASAP.

My prediction:

SC - 2015

FC - 2017

2015-2017? Sorry to burst your hope and prediction, but as long as western gamer don't play Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (Sora no Kiseki) 2nd chapter & 3rd chapter officially, than there's no way Xseed, Aksyss, or any company will bring Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero (Zero no Kiseki), Trails of Blue (Ao no Kiseki), and this - Trails in the Flash (Sen no Kiseki) to the west.

Why?

1) Zero, Ao, and Sen no Kiseki story are deeply connected with the event in Trails in the Sky. Some previous character / location / organization are back / mention again. In fact Zero & Ao are one game of Legend of Heroes VII. If you only play Zero but not playing Ao, than you will miss out the whole story and conclusion of Legend of Heroes VII. Just like Trails in the Sky condition in the west when Xseed only localize the 1st chapter.

2) Did you know that Trails in the Sky 1st chapter had 1.5 million characters in kanji? And the 2nd and 3rd chapter doubled/tripled the amount of 1st chapter? That's why Xseed never finish localizing 2nd chapter, aside of the abysmall sales for 1st chapter (i blamed western gamer for this!).

You should try reading Game Informer interview with Jessica Chavez, senior editor of Xseed, when she and her small team facing the horror of translating TitS 1st chapter:
http://www.gameinformer.com...

And i heard from my friends who understand japanese and also a fans of Legend of Heroes, that there's MORE kanji for Zero and Ao no Kiseki compare to Trails in the Sky!

3) It's niche franchise that only a few western gamer who knew about Legend of Heroes. More niche than Atelier, Disgaea, and Tales. Lookin at point number 2, there's only one company who bravely enough to officially localize this franchise and that company now already defeated by the gigantic size of kanji.

Now, combine my three points and you will face the truth why there's no way you can see Zero, Azure, and Sen no Kiseki in the west for 2015-2017.

I was talking about Trails Second chapter in 2015 and Final chapter in 2017, not the newer games.

We won't see these until 2022.

Inception3927d ago

Ah, my bad, but you should put more detail with your post :)

Well, let's wait more news from Xseed about Trails In the Sky 2nd and 3rd chapter. Because the latest news about 2nd chapter is 2 years old

But the Japanese are getting there... Japanese game are made by a handful compared to western games.

I expect the real big wave of PS3 3D games next year. Looks like the Ps3/PS Vita has more longevity more than

I hope they touch up the animations and models. Other than that it look great!

fight4love3927d ago

Fuck it. Gonna learn how to read Japanese. Yea.. it makes sense to do that. I don't wanna look back and forth with guides so this is my only option. Ill just import a bunch of games and when I'm rdy I'll just play one of the many jrpgs I'm interested in.

Inception3927d ago

Well good luck with your japanese. Even expert people in Xseed facing tons of difficulties when localizing LoH: Trails in the Sky 1st chapter.
