Is Tales of Xillia The JRPG Western Audiences Have Been Waiting For? | DualShockers

As a relative newcomer to the Tales series, I didn’t know what to expect when I got my hands on Tales of Xillia. I know that the game has been available in Japan for nearly two years, and that it met with incredible success; so successful that it’s already received a sequel, Tales of Xillia 2, which has also been available in Japan for nearly a year. But, can it impress a Western audience that has been so divisive on JRPGs?

I'll be picking it up day one to support the series. Absolutely loved Graces, so I'm sure I'll love Xillia. Not to mention it'll give me something to play until GTA V comes out! :]

I love JRPGs and my tops are Dragon Quest, Ni No Kuni, Final Fantasy (when it was JRPG) Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger... am I going to get a similar experience?

Tales of Phantasia (PS1 version, Japan only), Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Vesperia are the only good Tales games that came to the west.

If you love that JRPG, I assure you will love all tales games. Disgaea series is pretty good too

Tales of graces was so fun. The game itself was like 140+ hours including an additional story with it. Xillia is going to be amazing, getting on day 1 to support as well just cause they already stated 2 will be out next year :) makes me tingle inside just knowing that

JRPGs aren't perfect, we all get that, but neither are Western ones. They all have their issues. But some people have a hard agenda against Japanese anything.

I don't know if it's "THE JRPG TO RULE THEM ALL" , but I do know this is one JRPG I'll have a whole lot of fun playing on release date.
