J.J. McGrath - Both commercially and critically, “Shin Megami Tensei IV” appears to be a big hit for the video-game developer Atlus, a brand of the Index Digital Media Inc. unit of the Index Corp. (TYO:4835). And that’s a good thing for everybody concerned because the bankrupt parent company appears poised to begin auctioning its assets as early as this week, Bloomberg News reported, citing a couple of sources familiar with the matter.
Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."
The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.
Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."
What a word vomit, rambling, turd of an article that simply states the obvious. Classic exputer.
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Sony would be a much better company to buy them, honestly. :/
We all know PS4 is winning this generation. ALMOST every gamer WILL be getting it. If ATLUS goes to Sony, that means their games will be coming to PS4. It'll be good for the consumers, it'll be good for Sony and most importantly, it'll be good for ATLUS.
Also, Sony has a great reason to buy Atlus. When P4G released, Vita was topping charts in Japan. A few more games from Atlus on Vita, and it just might start selling as much as Sony wants it to. I wasn't getting a Vita until this year. But then when I heard P4G was coming out, I pre-ordered my copy immediately.
It makes perfect sense for Nintendo to buy Atlus. Nintendo and Atlus have a great relationship, heck there have been Atlus games on Nintendo systems since the NES era! I'm currently playing SMT4 and it's amazing. Do it Nintendo do it!
I would be happy with Sony or Tecmo-Koei buying them.
Honestly, the worst that could happen for Atlus is to be sold to a hardware manufacturer.
Atlus is one of the shining examples of multi-platform developer/publisher done right. They've always been able to recognize any system's possibilities and to develop accordingly. To jail them into only one system would be a really sad day for gamers. Everyone deserves a bit of the Atlus genius in their library.
My best bet (hope) is for Atlus to go solo, even if that means longer wait time between games.
Eh imagine Microsoft come outta nowhere and buy Atlus, I think I would wanna kill myself.
