Xenonauts have enough inspiration in X-Com titles, not the game Firaxis, X-Com: Enemy Unknown, but the first titles. Enemy Unknown was very well received by the critics, however the most dedicated fans of the series were not pleased with the changes. Fortunately for them, the studio decided to create Xenonauts Goldhawk, who may be the ultimate remake of X-Com.
It could be because it is not. The game is still in Early Access on Steam and still notice some glitches. Sometimes lack some art and is still quite inconsistent in terms of balance, but it is undoubtedly on the right track. This similarity with the original X-Com does not help players who have never played a game like that. Whoever catches the first time in Xenonauts without having played any of the X-Com
XCOM like games have become very popular in recent years but some of them definitely stick to the original formula closer than others.
