Forget Xbox One and PS4 - Apple's iOS 7 gamepad API could be the real game changer

E3 is drawing to a close, but rather than being all sewn up by Microsoft's Xbox One, Sony's PlayStation 4 or Nintendo's Wii U, it's Apple who've just made the real game-changing gaming announcement. iOS 7 for iPhone and iPad is set to introduce an official controller API, opening the floodgates for hardcore gaming on iOS devices.

I figure Apple wouldn't be too long behind Google, who done this with Android 3.0.

This won't be a game changer. Mainly because majority of the best selling iOS games are better with touch controls than a dedicated controller. People rather play games like Angry Bird and Temple Run with their hands than a controller.

I could see games like Dead Trigger, Infinity Blade, Shadowgun, and some of those Gameloft and EA games utilizing this but everything else not so much.

Forget real consoles. hardy har har. Where have I heard this before. Oh right. Phones will kill consoles, no it was pads, no the Qouya, wait it was Nvidia's handheld.

So.... Infamous Second Son... or Cut the Rope?

You decide.

Uhhh, why would this be a game changer? They're still mobile games... They're not going to compete with PS4/X1 level stuff.

StuffofLegend4000d ago

Absolutely correct. As nice as the news is, this should really only make games playable, not jaw dropping like next gen

Probably a Cell phone/Tablet gaming changer . Mobile and console gaming are not in the same league

That gamepad looks like it was made for a 5-year-old. This "could be the real game changer?" You have got to be kidding?!

MultiVersus Devs Are Teasing Another Steven Universe Character

A MultiVersus developer seems to be suggesting that a new Steven Universe character is going to join the roster soon, something that might even have been backed up by leakers.

We're just a few days away from the long-awaited relaunch of MultiVersus and while most of us are just excited to get our hands on the new Season 1 characters like Jason, Joker, Banana Guard, and Agent Smith, that hasn't stopped Player First Games from teasing some future additions.

This could work and would be very interesting and fun the way these robots break

A Lego game? I would never buy it and it’ll flop badly because the Lego games are cartoon or big movie licenses that appeal to casual and families with kids. Horizon no one knows what that is.

Popsicle6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I agree in that this is not something I am interested in at all. Maybe the target is a Horizon game that doesn’t require a mature audience and can be sold to kids. Just a thought. 🤷

porkChop59m ago

But those kids don't really know what Horizon is. And why bring them into a franchise where they can't play the other games? Idk man, it seems like a really weird decision.

Im sure it could be a good Lego game. The problem for me is I don’t care for the Lego games. Obviously this isn’t catered to me so I don’t mind it being a thing as I have plenty of other games to play. For the people that do enjoy Lego games I’m sure it could be on of the best Lego games if done right.

I lost my drive for collecting physical games due to many discs lacking the whole complete game. Instead, of collecting games I started collected figurines.

Popsicle7h ago

I am a collector have a room dedicated with a couple original arcade cabinets, physical game library, old and new consoles and controllers backlit with LED lighting. It’s very cool to have but with emulation being so strong and prevalent, I sometimes feel foolish because the hobby is expensive and like another said, the full game is not always on the disc. Could probably spend more wisely but I enjoy it.
