The Last of Us’ early access demo just dropped for those with copies of God of War: Ascension. Does it fly or fall?

And what's funny is after playing the demo, I was a little put off - it took me a little while to adjust.

I was not expecting the feel, I was thinking more like uncharted but once I adjusted It felt amazing.. (I played the demo twice)

Joel has a heavier slower pace and feel then drake, and for good reason, it's a more realistic type of shooting and movement..

So you really understand the pressure your under to get things done right- you don't have a lot of bullets so you have to shoot as if you can't miss..
The demo really shines in close quarters.. (the feel of danger, the music the look of everything) It's a gamers game.

This game is going to be amazing - It's different big time, but in a really good way - they nailed the feel, that's what really gets you into it.

Play it with a surround sound gaming headset, it's really intense. If the demo is any indication of how this game will play itself out then we're in for a treat folks.

Im a ps fanboy, and despite it being too long, and the shootin is just average, It will be a good buy when it hits the 39 dollar mark, just like when i bought Ascension just to play the demo, Ascension is amazing, and and totally worth the new price, just as will this game. Can't wait to play it, um probably around christmas time, i gotta save up for KZ4, Mario 3D, Windwaker, GTA, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Drive Club. Totally gonna miss out Call of Duty for after christmas , oh and getting the WiiU version too.

Was not expecting the combat to be so intense, was genuinely panicking wen I was figuring out how I'd take down those clickers. Atmosphere and tension were incredible

It's amazing when you've been spotted. Running away from the infected is both terrifying and thrilling. And the fact it was dark and you can't see much without using your flashlight makes it even more tense.

exploring and taking in the sites might have been why it took him longer took me 40 I was just taking in how well this game looked and it also didn't spoil any of the main story for the game

Yeah my second playthrough I was just walking through each little section to see if there was any additional stuff laying around. Glad it didn't spoil anything and was just a minor little exploration. Less than 2 weeks!

I'm sure I'll be Mr. Unpopular for this, but oh-well. I played the demo last night and now I am on the fence on whether or not I want to cancel my preorder. Why? Well let me say that nearly everything about this game is pitch perfect; Voice acting, graphics, sound, facial animations, environment, setting, atmosphere....nearly everything except....

1. And this is the lesser point of two...the controls, specifically when switching between the two guns/picking up an additional gun, just seems unnecessarily complicated. I personally would've appreciated a weapon wheel (like resistance 3) or just one button to cycle through all weapons. The point is, other games have done this better, why not follow suite?

2. And my biggest gripe...the game play, which consists mostly of the type of stealth/stalking/creating diversions that are commonplace in the game play found in the Splinter Cell series and Metal Gear series. That kind of game play just isn't my cup of tea unfortunately and even though it is also the bulk of what you find in the Batman AA/AC games it is alleviated by the cool gadgets I get to use in order to gain the upper hand, but if I'm being honest, I start to feel fatigued by that constant approach to combat in those games as well. If you get surrounded in TLOU it seems from my experience that you're chances of survival are nearly crippled, forcing you to avoid a head-on approach to combat and funneling you into the stealth tactic. Now if you love that kind of stealth/stalking approach to combat with what would seem to be a very small emphasis on head-on approach then you will most likely fall in love with TLOU!

Now to be fair, the game demo is very, very short and hopefully the game offers a wider variety in it's approaches to combat and if it does then I'll most likely pick it up. But as it stands, I'll be waiting to see some reviews or a rental to make sure that TLOU will be a good fit for me.
