With the tropical island cleaned up and the galaxy back in order, where is Mario headed to next? The easiest answer is to assume he will find his next adventure back in the Mushroom Kingdom, but where exactly will this next journey take place? Will it be a familiar location with a twist in the environment, or maybe an area that goes with some sort of new game mechanic? Without any information on the game, it’s hard to tell what direction Mario might be going in, but it’s never too early to speculate!

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.

Even 20 years later, the incredibly detailed world design of 2002's Super Mario Sunshine still manages to impress.
My main memory of this game is the broken, highly frustrating floating pinball stages.
Still, the summery vibe is quite uplifting.
Playing this game without having the high expectations of being sequel to 64 is actually a blast, I enjoyed it way more than I remember, yes it's the only 3D Mario game that annoys me with some of it's stages but it's actually so much fun overall
How about just a sequel to Super Mario 64? Thats what most people want anyway. Then later, just do a mario sunshine 2 and/or (preferably and) Super Mario Galaxy 3. Just do them all for the Wii U. Who said there has to be 1 mario 3d game per system....that sucks.
And while your at it Nintendo, bring N64 games to WII U an give them all online play. Infact, just bring all the old school stuff back and add online multiplayer. That will boost your sales of the Wii U immediately.... That way your can have more time to work on your new Wii U releases while we have fun playing our old time favorites with someone other than our lil brothers.
Your only slowing yourself down Nintendo.
I want a huge world to explore with many cool secrets. The way you discovered levels in Mario 64 was awesome. Bring back that sort of level design. One where the player is always wondering what they will find next.
just my 2 cents... ;p
