The Real Definition of HD Graphics for Next-Gen Consoles

We all want our games to have “HD Graphics” because it usually means they will look better. There are several different ways that HD can be described. So what exactly does “HD” mean for next-gen consoles?

The jump from 480p to 720p is the same of a jump as going is from 720p to 1080p. I know most 6th games ran at 480i but it still is the same amount of pixels.

You can increase the res all you want , but unless you actually add more micro details to take advantage of it , it is a waste of time , pretty much ... I'm sure the ps4 will deliver in that apartment :-)

If Sony is pushing devs for 1080p/60FPS I hope if that can't be maintained that they opt for 60FPS instead of 1080p if possible.

Yeah its cool :) Problem is, on first glance you dont even see difference between 720p/30fps (with Antialiasing) and 1080p/60fps but it takes ALOT more power.
Me personally i'm totally fine with 30-40fps for most games (Playing on PC). Only the really fast shooters and stuff have to be @60fps. But when you play online it doesnt really matter again because of lag...
TV runs @25fps and no one is complaining btw ;)

I love how PC gamers continually claim the games they play now look better than what the next gen systems have to offer. Really? Because I have yet to see something available on PC that blows me away and makes me think I'm missing out on something. Not one thing. I'm looking forward to Sony and to a lesser degree Microsoft's consoles because of their franchises, not because the product will offer photorealism. I want my gaming experiences to be entertaining. I still get a kick out of RC Pro Am and Mike Tyson's Punchout. The ultimate graphical fidelity is not the be all and end all of any system. This perpetual focus on graphics is lame and tired.
