Nintendo Still Has Aces Up Their Sleeves.

Most of you probably have watched the new Nintendo Direct feed a few hours ago. Let’s just say, Nintendo always has a backup plan to keep the hype alive; you don’t know what to expect from them.

I don't think we can predict what Nintendo will do with the Wii-U. The gaming market is incredibly rocky and unpredictable right now. It's not one ace that will save the Wii-U. It's not 3D Mario. It's not new Zelda. I don't know what it is, but I do think Nintendo can pull it off.

I admit it, I was one of those kids singing "3DS is doomed!" right along with the rest of 'em. Because it really did look doomed. Every single indication showed that the 3DS was doomed, from the piss-poor hardware sales, the terrible software sales, the lack of third parties (sound familiar?), the lack of upcoming games, etc. etc. But somehow (I have no idea how) Nintendo totally turned the 3DS around. It wasn't a singular game. It wasn't just one thing. It was a combination of things that brought the 3DS to where it is today.

It's very easy to say "Wii-U is doomed". But I think I'll be a man and admit that I was wrong about the 3DS, so I hope we're wrong about the Wii-U.

Price cut is mainly how they did it. They'll have to do the same for the Wii U. Both were overpriced and outdated hardware at launch. Without a good games library there's not much incentive to immediately buy the latest thing when its not really the latest and greatest thing.

If Nintendo is going to keep staying a generation behind in technology they've either got to price it like a budget system or launch with enough good games to justify a purchase.

3D Mario, LoZ U, Mario Kart U, Super Smash Brothers Wii U/3DS.

* Each sells 2 million +

Nintendo is an Ace, EA is a puss.

I wonder what the team that made star fox assault is working on. plus the team that made excitebots. and there's still the team that made punchout out there too. retro isn't the only team that hasn't announced their projects.

The last time Nintendo was backed into a corner like this we got the DS and Wii. While I am not a fan of the Wii I do recognize what it did for Nintendo on the whole as a company. It was a complete hardware revolution for them.

I am hoping that this current situation will lead to a software revolution for them. Only time will tell, but I am not ready to count Nintendo out just yet.

Eh, a new Sonic announcement isn't an "ace up their sleeve." If it really were the "next three Sonic platformers" that were exclusive, that'd be one thing, but it seems like "one Sonic platformer and two spin-offs" which isn't really all that special (even Wii got that).

I lost my drive for collecting physical games due to many discs lacking the whole complete game. Instead, of collecting games I started collected figurines.

I am a collector have a room dedicated with a couple original arcade cabinets, physical game library, old and new consoles and controllers backlit with LED lighting. It’s very cool to have but with emulation being so strong and prevalent, I sometimes feel foolish because the hobby is expensive and like another said, the full game is not always on the disc. Could probably spend more wisely but I enjoy it.

Most games are usually on disc still. Of course you got you publishers that are hit and miss, Activision, ubisoft, ea, Microsoft, where the rest of the game needs downloaded.
